I'll start first. I'm probably the only guy here that calls his car a He. Why you ask ?cause I believe his more of (I can't believe I'm typing this, #### insomnia) GUY. Me and him go through some stuff together like rain, snow and back roads. I hope me and him will some day be invincible team. Drifting Ricer takes the SCCA "Improved Touring" and "showroom stock" by storm. *_* I must be dreaming again sorry.. #### insomnia.

my car is an "it", even though half the time I keep spouting out "she". Originally, I mistakenly called my S13 "Silvia" (even though it was a fastback). It just followed that I would call my S14 "Silvia II." Now I'm too hard headed to consider any 240sx a Silvia Oh well.... sometimes I slip... and sometimes I look at my cell phone which has "Silvia II" on the screen

I used to call my S13 "She". I still do as a matter of fact. Reason: well... I really don't have many female friends at all... I considered my car my friend. And unlike a guy, she never talked back to me or told me stupid things or do anything to hurt my feelings. When we lost a race, we went to the performance shop, I'd give her a wash, and she was thankful. Guys don't do that. Guys take those things for granted... But I still like boys... and I still love S14Guy...

I think cars can be overwhelming because people easily get too attached to material objects.

Even though I am pretty fanatic about the work I do on my car, and immensly enjoy driving it -- I still call it an *it* because it is nothing more than temporary happiness.

LoL.... if my car was really a "she" I would have been b*tch slapped to #### and back for all the floggings..... dirt roads, back roads, drag races, rainy days...... not to mention that small encounter with that post and ditch.... although, I do buy "her" a lot of stuff to make up for it.

Car: "I can't beLEIVE you just spun me into a ditch."
Me: "Relax.... I'm rebuilding the TD05 tomorrow."
Car: "Reeeaaaallly??? So you're finally getting me the turbo??"
Me: "Uh, i just said rebuild!!! No promises."
Car: "We have to talk about your commitment issues. Untill then, I'm not budging from this ditch."

I always classified cars as she, and trucks (and SUVs even though they aren't real trucks) as he.
Sports cars are definately she's.
Of course some cars are just it's.
EX: toyota camrys (these cars may be nice, but they have absolutely no personallity at all.)

AceInHole, I never really thought about the skirts and bras before, mmm.

I never thought of it that way. Haha.
Yeah, the funny thing about toyota, is for a company that makes (or made) a car like the supra, is that they make alot of boring cars.
But cheer up transient a corolla wagon has a personality that few other cars have.

Anyways... there's nothing wrong with homosexuality. We should respect Drifting Ricer for who he is (I'm gonna get beat up next saturday aren't I).

Meanwhile... I'll go watch some eps of Gravitation (otaku's everywhere can laugh then realize they've watched it too)

S13girl, you have problems if you've looked at a shifter in *that* way..! :) There are other, more simpler methods.. (boyfriend, motorized device, hand, etc).. lets not stoop to shifters now.

However, a 5-speed usually isnt that big.. relatively speaking. But an automatic? Shit.. doesnt sound kosher to me.. :)

Honestly, as a girl, I've looked at that shifter a few times... and #### NO! It's too f'n wide. So... because of that, I know for a fact that Aceinhole is wrong.

Stop arguing, damb it!

Dude, it was a five-speed. I don't think I even know how to drive an auto! I would crash the moment I got in it. And this happened in a '91 SE-R. Anyone who has a stock '91 shifter in an SE-R and if they look at it will see the resemblance. It's not just me. #### it, you people make me feel stupid now. And my boyfriend does more than enough for me (clears throat), the shifter was just a resemblance to something all of you have.

LoL... many things can be argued in that post..... but I'll just comment on one part....
My best friend and I have pretty much driven stick for a long ass time.... and one day we end up having to take my mom's Buick out (obviously an Auto). That was quite possibly one of the scariest drives... I let my friend drive so I could figure out the directions, and every time we're coming to a stop, it's like "Jesse... brakes... brakes.... jess.... hit the brakes.... BRAKES MUTHA*****ER!!!". Not being used to the pressure applied in an auto (you have to fight the brake compared to standard) affected him for the entire trip.....

Another thing is, aren't a lot of Auto shifters shaped like a T??

I'm just wondering if Silvias are called Sylvias because they aren't Silvias, and are most likely 200sx's or 240sx's........ That would be a good excuse.

more interesting thoughts on the whole "she" thing:

is a front end conversion like a makeover?
engine swap = heart transplant
bra = an accessory that most of us, frankly, could do without
ironically, on our cars we like our skirts low..... and occasionally flashy.
a body kit is like reconstructive surgery....
would paint be like lipstick? or hair color.... (wahooo blue. haha... anime)
weight reduction = diet = more athletic??
suspension work is like stretching for a workout
bolt ons would be like working out
NOS would be steroids....
a turbocharger..... uhh....
does your car complain about its "shoes"? do you want nice "shoes" for your car??
how many of us can admit that our car could use a nicer "ass"?

just some random observation. I'm bored. bla bla bla.
my car is still only referred to as "it" though, and I do love "it".

Ah.. no worries S13girl, I am here to assist:

Lesson #1> Driving an auto-matik
- Car must be in "P"ark - turn ignition and start car
- Slide shifter into "D"rive - careful, you may want to secure yourself.
- Remove foot from brake and push on gas
- Press brake when stopping power is needed

Anyway, dont sweat it girl.. i'm just toying with your post.. you set yourself up for that one! :)

- Mike
