Got a really good deal on a JDM VVT-i 2jzgte is why I went ahead and decided to do the swap to gain more displacement and build a more power happy engine.

Doing some porting and knife edging. (This is taking longer than I wanted.. But atleast I understand why it cost so much to have it done by someone) Should be worth the extra time in the long run...

Got some of the accessories on, had the alternator and turbo housing polished now I just need to finish the porting, order some valve springs and get the head surfaced and she'll be ready to install on the block.

I've always really liked that car, looking forward to the build. Question though, why switch to 2jz when it looked like your rb setup already made a good amount of power? Whatd the rb setup make and how much are you planning to make with the 2jz?

It's a build thread and it's not done yet.

500whp was a decent amount of power, I was pushing my stock rb25 neo to its limits at that power range. At the same time I wanted more displacement for quicker spool and still make a lot of power. Instead of sourcing a rb30 block and all the other stuff to make it work I would rather have a 2jz bore it to a 3.1L and change everything to the way I want such as internals, a twin disk, different engine management system, all new shorter route charge pipes. 2jz stuff I can go to any Toyota or Lexus and get any new OEM parts a lot easier than RB parts.

Wrong section, but I look forward to seeing some more progress.

I actually look forward to this aswell.. I actually like the thought of switching from RB to 2jz.. gotta love the 3.0 over a 2.6 plus the 2jz is just known for handling huge amounts of HP with ease.. So i think its a great choice.

GL man.
I wish i would have gone this route instead of SR. +1 on ease of parts. 2JZ blocks can be had for a few hundred. Now i see that's a GTE.... Better upgrade that oil pump for sure. I'm seeing guys build GE's with forged internals to avoid potential issues with the JDM piston oil squirters. A few guys on club lex have some builds going on with a whole bunch of good information available.

You're so cool Jeff.

Can't wait to see it on the big bank next year.

Engine is pretty much done. Now for some fab work!
Got the head back from the Machine shop, resurfaced and all the valve seats cut. Had to order $100 in new valve shims to get in tolerance.

Installed the head, using stock valvetrain for now.

Almost ready to drop her in! ( valve covers and some other bits are getting polished also. Looks half a**ed right now )
