Heater hoses routing on s14 pics inside

so I just dropped my first sr swap and I,m kinda confused about the heater hoses.
with hose goes were? does it matter? also see a valve with a cable. do i need it?
so far i connected the hose coming from the bottom(thermostat line) to the bottom on on the firewall. now the issue is the top one coming from the firewall has a valve on it and not sure if it is correct. does the top one goes to the water return line ( line behind the head, where the turbo return line come from)??

is it true that the valve is there to prevent coolant from cycling inside the car and running through the heater core if you do not have the heater engaged? i heard that if you don't install it, then basically your A/C will never get cold. not sure how true that is, but i figured since we are on the topic i'd bring it up.

I never had an issue keeping it sub zero in my car with that valve removed. Infact, the later S14's deleted that valve altogether...

If my memory is correct they didnt delete the valve they relocated it internally actually

Thanks for the info guys. Im just afraid to have coolant running in all the time. Lets say something bust in the core then i will have a big mess. Thinking to just buy a hose and some fittings and make it work.
Anymore feedback of ppl running a 95 zenki without it?

There will always be coolant in the heater core no matter what so if it busts your sol.The valve just stops restricts/flow It doesnt magically block coolant to come in from both sides when there is only one valve.

Yup, I think they moved the valve internally to the heater core after 96. My 95 has this and my 97 didnt. It just stops coolant from flowing thru your heater core. No hot coolant flowing thru it, no heat. If you take the valve out, you'd have constant flow of hot coolant thru your core and depending on how old your AC is, it may not be able to overcome it.

I read that too. I guess ill just buy a fitting and xtra hose for now. U cant really tell cuse will be behind the intake manifold
