View Full Version : The forgotten drift Machine Izusu made...

I don't know how many of you can recall Izusu ill fated attempts at producing cars. But I honestly have to say the Isuzu Impulse Lotus Edition was their finest hour. My friend Matt recently bought my beater ass BMW. He also has a Izusu Impulse or as I lovingly call it the "Insult". It has good handling and drifts relatively easy due to 50/50 weight. The engine is however the biggest piece of shit I've seen in a while. Its a i-tec 4 cylinder but I don't know whats so "tec" about it. It's more like shit-tec, or slow-tec. But the engines had it and we need to swap it. We were thinking about the turbo engine that was made for it but there next to impossible to aquire. So the plan is to use a KA24DE Twin cam motor from my car. I wont need the motor since I am doing the s13 blacktop install in about a month. But I would like opinions from anyone on if they think it can be done and how hard it would be. Personally I think it would be badass to resurrect a dinosaur like this one.

Ugly...yes. Potential....most likely. Cheap...definately.
From everything that I have read, the car seems to have a very stiff body and responds well to modifications.
The RS however, seems to come only in AWD, not the best for a drift car but I am sure that it is possible to disengage the front drive shaft just like other AWD cars. Car might make for an interesting project....different at least.

forgive me if i'm wrong but, i think he's referring to the first gen isuzu impulse. i'm not 100% sure but i think the second gen one is front wheel drive. isn't that second gen one based on the same platform as the geo storm.lol
does that mean the geo storm was RWD???

I know a guy around here who has a few of those that are modded.. sound like crap and are ugly, but they can be pretty quick.
..i'd personally waste my money on something else ;)

I like them....I looked into them as in option instead of a 240 (why swap in a turbo 2.0 when another car already has one?stupid logic,really!)..
