View Full Version : JDM S14 headlights versus US S14
what exactly is the diffrence, I really like the style of the JDM lights, since the US ones fog over. is it a front clip swap or just head lights
thanks
mike
do you mean the kouki (97-98) headlights? US comes with those too...and i dont think they fog. Im guessing by fogging you mean the zenki (95-96)

I think the JDM s14A lights have a larger projector plus are set up for a car that is RHD. s14B.........I have no idea.

JDM kouki projectors are set farther outward, usdm inward.
JDM ones are aligned for RHD also.
Do not have info on zenki

the jdm zenki lights are clearer than ours but are plastic too. Only euro lights were glass.

frankly, i've seen JDM zenki headlights in person. they're not much better than the USDM ones. if you want nice zenki headlights, buy new USDM ones (170 each i think) I have one new and one old. the new headlight looks pimp. i'm probably going to replace the other one sooner or later.
or if you got the bling then go german ($600-700 a pair, glass)

if you're taking about them fogging over, just wet sand it and apply some scratch remover, i remember reading about this somewhere, it makes it clear and shiny again. i dont remember so you'll have to search

What do you mean by wet sanding it. Do you do the inside or the outside.

Mr.Spool:
to get all of the oxidation out, you have to wetsand the inside of the lenses. It's not that hard, you just put ur headlights in the oven for a couple mins so you can pry the lense off the body of the lamp. Then sand (not too much tho, or you will sand off the "fluting") and polish, and put back together. Save yourself a bunch of skrill yo! I wouldn't sand with anything under like 800 grit, especially when wetsanding because it goes much faster.

I will check this out, how hard is it to put these back together. Hopefully I can get this done right.

not too hard, you just need to get some good, obviously weather-proof sealant to put them back together.

The inside doesn't really have oxidation. I took mine a part, cleaned & wetsanded it and didn't really notice a difference. The outside makes the most difference but your never gonna get all the yellow out. BTW, thier is a big difference between JDM and USDM, check out my pic to see. Only thing bad bout the JDM is the light pattern is pointing to on-coming. It's not that bad though, our lights are not that bright...my fog lights are more bothersome. Oh and JDM lights do get a little yellow just not as foggy.

I have the JDM ones on my zenki s14, and they are a lil different, also they point to the left side of road instead of right for RHD, mine are kinda tinted too, maybe its just the plastic dulling i dunno
