Looking back at how I got my 92 240sx fastback is nothing short of extraordinary. Since I am the new guy on Zilvia I feel compelled to tell all of my ups and downs of car ownership. Originally I was the type of person who looked at all japanese cars as "rice". I had know IDEA that there was a diffrence between JDM cars and rice mobiles. I was 16 then and had just purchased what I honestly now consider a piece of shit. It was a 1985 BMW 325e which had been driven from california and back twice! First off at Idle it sounded like diesel engine due to the horrible knocking of the shitty engine which had nearly 250,000 miles on it. I didn't know how to buy cars back then but I thought all BMW cars were cool. Does a redline at 5000 rpm sound cool? I didn't think so. Ater I got beat by a 80's prelude Si,I realized the error of my ways. Weeks later I was driving to school in the rain (running late as usual) and trying to speed up to get there on time. Before I knew what drifting was I did it by mistake in the rain, except my counter steer came far too late and I did a 180 into a curb and ripped everything from under the car out. My oil pan was blown into a million pieces of shiny aluminum and I sat there and watched my car bleed to death. I went home knowing my car was done for good and at the same time thinking how cool it was that I got sideways (even if it was by accident). My second car was another Bimmer this time though I got it right and bought a 90 325i. It was a cool car and came fast out of the box. By now I knew what drifting was and was determined to learn how to do it. Unfourtionately BMW's don't respond well to getting sideways. With cadillac-esque suspension and shitty tires I managed to slam the car into a gaurd rail. That day was horrible for me and is on the top ten worse days of my life so far. I drove my wounded car home and explained to my parents that a "deer" jumped in front of me. Uh yeah a "deer", hey whatever works for a excuse. However not all was lost and I managed to make enough money to fix my car. But it would forever be,a bad luck car. I guess God really does have a sense of humor cause 6 months later a deer really did jump in front of me. I did manage to kill the deer and anihilate the right side of my car in the process. I had always loved Nissan and its wonderfull cars but never really cared about owning one until that accident. Oddly enough I found a 240sx in less than 2 days into my search and bought it on site. It was a one owner car and owned by a cop at that. He was obsesive compulsive about the car and had maintained it emaculately everything being original including the cassete player and stock stereo. He even had the original window sticker from 92'. I have great and wonderful plans for my car. A s13 Blacktop will be going in very soon then LSD and coilovers will follow. I will hopefully be at hyperfest this year at Summit Point Raceway learning more technique. When I still had my Bimmer I practiced alot in the snow and really gained my technique. In short I can say this about cars, there a bitch and a blessing at times. One minute your cursing it to hell and the next minute loving it to death. Drifting is more to me than just a fad and I hope it never dies out,Keichi Tesuchiya is the one person I study alot because his technique is bar-none the best and he can do things in cars I never thought possible.
