Im looking to get my 240 running again instead of letting it sit HORAH
but Im going to go back to KA24de and sell all my SR stuff.
any good places with a decent price to buy a good long block?
Im also curious, if i rebuild the long block of a s14 KA24DE will it be able to be used no problem if i use the S13 Dizzy, Exhaust manifold, Intake Manifold?
If so Im thinking this for the Head portion

This for the bearings

Im just trying to figure out what to use for the pistons and rings...
If so I'm going to have a machine shop as well do the full rebuild

KA's aren't becoming extinct, there are plenty of them still around. Your best bet would be to buy another KA24 and rebuild it yourself. A complete tear down, cleaning, etc.
And as for specific parts like pistons and other internals, do a little bit more research. You'll find plenty of different options.

Buy a ka, take it to a shop, have them rebuild it. A couple hundred for tear down, clean up and reassembly, not to mention piece of mind. Are you gonna be NA or FI?

A couple hundred in labor reusing the same parts. I paid $600 just for my block and I supplied all the parts.

:picardfp: Yes that's just for labor. But, most shops, around here anyways, will do the tear down, machine the block, crank and head, and they'll tell you if you needs oversize pistons, rings, bearings or head gasket and usually order them on your bill for you. Or obviously you can order your own and supply them. Boring the block and cutting the crank usually cost more too.

I called a local machine shop and was quoted around 900 depending on the stuff that needs to be done. Not including the parts. Im going NA again

Maybe shops here are just desperate for work lol. But why not just pick up a running ka from an sr fanboy? I've seen ka's go for under $300, just have to look hard. My rebuild has run me about $650 so far (full gasket set, rings, bearings, ARP head and main studs, tanked and honed block, freeze plugs, decked head and block and valve stem seals). It'd be cheaper to buy a used ka, compression test and check for leaks.

LOL well shit i want to be where you are.
I looked for SR fan boys and even offered good trades for people who want to do swaps for alot but it doesnt seem like there is a lot of people doing swaps this time of year... maybe around tax season

Lol you don't wanna be here. Unemployment is 20% :hide:. Have you posted in the WTB section for a ka yet?
