need help!!! tranny problem???

earlier today i was at a red light. i press down on the clutch pedal and try to go into first gearit makes a grinding noise? does anyone know whats goin on? i drive a s13 hatch sr20det.. could it be the tranny? clutch? it has happened several times already. and when it grinds i jus try to put it onto gear again and it goes. this happens only on first gear.

Any help or info would be helpful thanks.

Id start by checking the trans oil

Dont slam it into first. Be easy on it or go second to first thats what i do.

depends. usually the out put seals leak a little. but like the guy above said go into second and the first thats what I always do. worn syncrose or somthing causes that. but check the oil
