Well, i never though i have to come to a decition when it come to pickan engine for my car. but here we go.!
Ok, @ the end of this month i'll have enough fund to get engine i want .
I've been hanging around NICOCLUB mainly @CA18DET forum to see how the engine is.and it seems to have very high potential. but all of them look up for SR with T28. good things about it?? 1/2 the price of SR but same potential. less upgrades. and supply seem to be fading away fast.
:blah:
then there is Black top S13SR that is newer but not by 1-2 years. cost 3K with tons of potentials and after market support of a boatload. but again cost double. still plenty of supply.
:blah:
now cost don't mean much right now i have enough to buy both ( and my SOHC is blown!!). then upgrade my car and power as my track driving improves.
Opinions please , NOTE i'll do all the labor myself and all my clip will be order from Jarco In GA which i'll be there to check and pick up myself.
I'm more concern about the long run thing. I'm looking for good performance reliability. and all the goody we all look from Nissan. I even sold my FC TII to get this but now i'm stuck!!.
WELL, or maybe this is just one of those lonely Friday night with not enough porn!! C :hammer: :bash: :fart:

for an s13 or s14?
s13 - CA is fine
s14, I'd at least go SR. The extra weight of the s14 likes to have a little more low end grunt (which the extra displacement will help).
But, then again, I'm one of those "no replacement for displacment" kind of guys, so I say buy a new KA and turbo it. Thats just me, tho.

He said his sohc is blown, so i would suppose its an s13. I'd go with the ca, because with the money saved, you can make it faster than a stock sr.

why not invest in a mild na/turbo build on your ka? Walk those jdm engines then cross em out.

yeah thats an option to =P i just wish the ka reved higher

you could pick up a ka-de for pretty cheap and build it up to hold boost for less than those engines probably. im also a fan of a little more displacement. if you have that kinda money though, an rb25 would be your best bet for reliability and power. just my opinion though, good luck

how much would a turbo kit run for on that KA?

depends
I spent almost $8k last time on custom IC pipes, and a full apex'i setup, (apex'i turbo, BOV, boost and fuel controllers, IC, turbo timer) and thats not including the apex'i exhaust and suspension. the manifold I used was a revhard. this time I'm budgetting in the 3k range for turbo setup with about 2k for motor internals.

if you are doing the labor on the swap yourself; I would think buiding a ka would be more expensive and difficult/ time consuming. I have never had experiance with a ca so I don't have any advice there, but I love my sr. good luck and get your first choice off of research. you know what they say about opinions.

try sr20de rwd, high compression much better than na ka24 build up in my opinion....

well, yes i'd love to do a KADE, but I love rev, I was into rotary for about 2 years, then again i love Nissan, Ka got good bottom end, but can't hold boost well enought on stock internals, which lead to 1-2k of internal work to make it reliable for boost. then ++ for turbo and the such.= more expensive than JDm motor out off the box.
Yes CA will be a very good choice my concern with that will be availability which decreaseing very rapidly. and after market support, then there is RB series engines which falls in the same catagory.
Sr is the way to go ( i think ) but the engine is so in high demand right now that Jarcoinc.com In GA has sold All but 2 SR when it still on the water.( and it's still on the water)
So i'm giving my self a little more time to do research and to collect more $$
whichever way I still have to convert my car to DOHC, btw my car is a 90 240sx, hatch, in gold. got it for $150.
This Thread will stay open for more input, ur swap and personal opinions on ur own swap are still welcome and it will be very valueble to my research for my best set up. so keep it coming. Thanks in advance. C
