*RARE* 2000 BMW 540i 6 speed M package

2000 BMW 540i 6 speed, M Package, clean title, 126k miles, original silver paint in decent condition, no major flaws just some typical rock chips on the front end, one small crack on the drivers side of the bumper, and a dew little dings here and there all really small flaws. Grey leather interior, sport seats with heaters, no rips or tears except for the steering wheel. Everything works all 4 auto windows, power mirrors, ac blows SUPER cold, power seats. Car has no mechanical problmes, It's never let me down. It has a small oil leak that I havent taken the time to deal with because its soo small. Oil and filter was just changed yesterday. Clutch was replaced and has maybe 10k on it now, brakes were all replaced around 10k as well. For those who don't know about the 540i's these cars are rare in 6 speed. Only a few hundred were made each year, and this car is fast. Its got a 4.4l v8 with nearly 300hp and 350tq. Only modification is the exhaust, I brought it to an exhaust shop and had them delete the rear mufflers. Its still really quiet due to the other 4 mufflers on the car, now it just has a beefy tone. Price is 7300 OBO, I'm also looking for a truck of some kind. Must be 4cyl 5 speed.

Honestly, I dont know. I bought it from a guy who took care of it and had it serviced buy BMW tech, but I don't know forsure. Like I said, it's never given me any problems.

A 2000 540i/6 is not rare by any mean and all 6 speed model came with sport package (or M package as you claim) and they came with M5 steering wheel, sport seats, sport suspension etc. If you have 2003 M-tech 540i then it is rare, because there are only around 1200 of them made and those are the only E39 that came from the factory with full M5 fascia (the only difference is Engine, no LSD, and rear exhaust cutout and outlet).

As for your asking price, it is fair only if you have all the papers for all the works that has been done to the car. All BMWs are notoriously famous for it's bad cooling system and at that mileage, I'm expecting it to have some kind of cooling system rebuild.

If the previous owner really took care of the car then I wouldn't be too worried since timing chain guide issue only appears if the owners rarely change the oil, but if the guide did break, it's going to be a super expensive and time consuming repair job.

Sadly no records. The man I bought it from claimed it was well maintained. The only paperwork he gave me was the smog paper, it had passed a week before I bought it.
