car sooolldddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello everyone!! i've decided the time has come to part ways with the Scoobie. I think im gonna get out of the car game for a while.
So, what we have here is a 2002 Impreza 2.5RS w/ 130k miles on it. i purchased it stone stock, and did ALL the work myself (with help from friends). it is a full 100% swapped 2006 STI w/ roughly 80k miles on it, and 15k on the block. into a bugeye shell now. every wire, every bolt, every piece of suspension, every piece of the interior, even the gas tank and all related emissions components. Heck, the brake lines were even changed! (since they switched to a different ABS module in 05)... so i mean EVERYTHING! the only remaining bugeye parts are the front end pretty much.
The only thing keeping this car from being 100% cali legal and BARed, CARBed, etc, is it has an external wastegate on it, and turbo back exhaust. but i have the OEM STI uppipe and downpipe(more on that later). but i did this build with the word LEGAL in mind.. so this is no hack job! the only spliced wires are the headlights! everything else is all 06' STI, every sensor/module/relay/fuse box! even the air conditioner is now the STI auto HVAC!!
i spent nearly $11,000 just on the swap. not including all the other added parts (body panels, wheels, suspension, and parts of the interior). and one very cool thing about this car is insurance is MUCH cheaper then if you had to insure a 06' STI.. so you get an 06' STI with the insurance cost of a 02' 2.5RS.
oookkk.... now the good/bad parts.. as all for sale threads have them..lol...
bad:
-since doing the swap, i havnt been able to go WOT because i havnt had the money for a tune. i spent every penny i had in savings to get this swap done, and done correctly, that when it was done, i was/and am broke..lol... but it is my daily driver and drives perfectly fine.. i just havnt floored it because due to the external wastegate, the motor isnt tuned for it and it might blow up..i did however pick up an 06 STI OEM uppipe so i can take off the wastegate and then that problem is solved. just after taking on the monumental task of doing the full swap, i just dont want to turn another bolt on this car whatsoever..so i havnt had the drive or energy to do so.
-the front brakes are getting low.. they still work perfectly fine, but i happened to see while putting the brembos in, that the front pads were low.. and its starting to squeek a little bit
-the tires are balding on the inside.. as i havnt had the time/money to get it aligned since the swap. BUT, i might do it this week if im able to.
-airbag light is on. because its an 06-07' STI swap, the entire airbag system was changed, even in the seats. and i have everything except the passenger side seatbelt. i have an 05 STI belt in there right now, it just is missing an extra sensor that the 06-07 has for the weight sensor on the passenger side airbag. so it all functions fine. just trips the light. i even have the bladder and sensors that go under the passenger seat. just havnt installed them yet. but concidering my car didnt come with side impact airbags to begin with, its all just upgrades anyways
-check engine light is on. codes are for a boost leak/air leak. i found one and fixed it, but havnt had time/money to do a boost leak test to find the other leak/leaks.. but a very minor problem.
the good:
has a brand new gates racing timing belt/water pump/tensioners/and pulleys, brand new iridium spark plugs, brand new walbro 255 fuel pump. so all the maintenance is done. and has less then 5k miles on it.
every system works perfectly on the car! fully operational and OEM DCCD system. fully operational Intercooler Sprayer, auto HVAC system, outside temp sensor so the STI cluster actually has a working and accurate temp reading. has the 06' STI chipped key and alarm system. has the optional Home-Link Rear View Mirror, so you can program your garage door opener to the mirror, and has a built in compass. 06' STI 6-dics cd player.
car is 100% reliable and runs and drives perfect. NEVER overheats, transmission shifts like butter. this truly is a car you have to see to appriciate!
as of right now, if you wanted the car as-is, without me doing the uppipe swap and diong it yourself, im asking $13,000
after i get the uppipe swap done and get the car to go WOT, then im gonna ask $14,000..so a few hours of labor can save you $1,000. and im supplying the parts.
here is the fully documented build thread i made about this car since the day i bought, up until a few days ago. including a fully documented swap! to give you an in depth understanding of what was involved in the swap and what was done to it.
