Just swapped a five speed in and trying to finish it up but running into a snag. I am trying to wire up the reverse lights. I know on the s14 its the third plug down on the fuse box in the engine bay and that the green and black wires are used. I know that it doesn't matter which wire goes to which...(done my research don't want those annoying posts saying search lol) anyways my problem is as soon as i put the car in reverse my fuse pops for dash...lose rpm and dash lights. Replaced fuse and took sensor out of trans and left it hooked up and works perfect when not touch the trans. when it does it arcs...any ideas?

could be that the switch itself or the plug off the switch is allowing the two wires to touch... sort of like a short to ground. Check the plug off the transmission, with the sensor plugged in, with an ohm-meter and see what it reads in neutral, as well as in reverse. I'll find an FSM photo for you

I have the same problem with my Nissan

At first they didn't light at all in reverse. I connect the wires at the switch by the transmission and they stayed on. I have a new switch installed and plugged in the wires. Now, the reverse lights stay on ALL the time. What possibly could be wrong now? I want help from experts. Anyone please help me.
