Never seen it, never gonna see it. Though, if I remember properly, double clutching is the same as a heel-toe downshift (methinks). Where you have your left foot on the clutch, toe on the brake, and heel reving the accelerator to put it in the next lower gear during a turn

I'm sure somewhere on DSCs great signature link the topic is discused. Basically, double clutching is pumping once to remove the car from a gear and pumping again to put in into the next gear. Back in the day, this technique would allow for smoother shifts and save tranny wear. With the advent of the modern syncro, it is not much used as it tends to be cheaper to replace a syncro some day far down the line than to constantly be doing the clutch. I know a FEW roadracers who still do it, but even they agree it's just b/c they are old skool.

yeah, exactly hipposleek. I also learned what it was from turnfast.com. It is only used for downshifting but i think there is an alternate reason than for just saving the synchros. Check the website RPM240 and U will learn, "turnfast.com"

Here's a clip
"...If you're using a true race transmission without synchros, then you need to modify the above shifting with a double-clutch procedure. To do this, the clutch is pressed in, the shifter moved to neutral, and the clutch released. Then the accelerator is blipped, while the shifter is in neutral (again with the heel, while the ball of the foot continues to brake), the clutch pressed back in, the shifter placed in the lower gear, and the clutch released. This is required for maximum longevity of the transmission. If you expect to get in a race car some day that is likely to have such a transmission, it's a good idea to practice this shfting technique with your street car as well, even though it technically is not necessary." -turnfast

And a link (http://www.turnfast.com/tech_driving/driving_heeltoe.lasso) to the heal-toe downshift technique which you have to master b4 you can double clutch.

If you want to see it, they do it in Legend of Speed 2, and Thunderbolt(Jackie Chan's movie), they are both Hong Kong movies and you can probably get them on Morpheus, but they only show it for a couple of seconds. Do any of u actually do that? When I was in Hong Kong, all the street racers do that, but I tried to do it, and it just seems pretty difficult.

heal-toe downshift? yes. Double clutching? no.

DSC has it right

both of those movies show what heel-toe looks like.
if you want a closer look at heel-toe, just watch

I've yet to see this double-clutching technique... boy does it sound interesting now.

Ok, sorry about that, I always thought they showed it in there and I guess I was wrong then. But I found instructions here on how to heel-toe downshift and downclutching.

Now, can someone please go to the post "painting the interior" and answer my question. thanks. I really want to paint it right now.
