Description:
Selling my Lexus Ls400 or will trade for a 5 speed, e36/m/e46.
I will disclose all information I know about it, all maintenance was done by me following the manufacturers specifications. INQUIRES must be serious, do not waste my time.
I purchased this car in March of this year as I needed a car quick to get around in. The car is pearl white two tone with tan interior and wood trim. It was all stock minus a lift, tint and head unit. It also had a newish Power steering pump, newish Alternator and was told it had a fresh engine and transmission of 130K (good faith measure, I have no proof of this other than I have torn the block down and it is very clean internally).
I drove it home, broke it down and did all of the following maintenance items:
$150: Gates timing belt kit (belt, rollers and tensioners)
$ 90 : OE water pump
$ 80 : OE Radiator
$ 20 : OE Rad. hoses
$ 15 : Thermostat
$ 15 : Radiator Cap
$ 65 : Rear rotors
$ 40 : Rear brake pads
$120: 2X Front ball joints
$130: Rear passenger upper control arm
$ 35 : OE Transmission Filter
$ 70 : 8 QT's of Toyota trans fluid
$ 30 : Spark Plugs
$ 30 : Ebay Front blinkers
$ 25 : Front corner light
$ 20 : Rear third brake light harness
$ --- : Optima redtop battery (I will probably pull this back out and put in my track car)
$ 15 : Cabin air filter
$ 20 : Intake filter
$ 50 : Seat covers
$ 35 : AC Re-charge
$ 40 : Bosch Wipers
$ 55 : OEM Lexus key
Other "Maintenance" Items:
$750 : Megan ez Coilovers
$ 50 : Homemade skid plate (1/8th inch steel)
$ --- : Rolled the fenders
$ 850 : Stole some wheels off my other car and mounted tires (front 225/45, rear 245/40)
$ 75 : Alignment
$ 2875 Total
The good:
- Motor and transmission are strong
- Steering it tight
- Doesn't burn/leak ANY fluids
- I have been able to get 28mpg out of it
- Speakers sound great (used to have a sub, IDK what's in it now)
- Surprisingly quick and fun
- Rubs only on hard right hand turns (needs to be rolled further forward)
- Sunroof works great, no leaks
- Tires are near new
- Brakes are all new and stop very well
- Fresh Inspection last month
- Underside is very clean (no rust)
- Clean title
- A/C blows cold
- Cruise control and electronic steering wheel
- Heated and power seats
- Car is fairly "low" but still very capable
- Good condition for 226K miles (daily driver, will go up)
The bad:
- It has a dent in the trunk and hood (see last photo)
- Both front and rear bumpers are cracked. Both are fixable but I never got around to it.
- Clear coat is peeling around the back quarters
- Exhaust leak
- Check engine light for cat codes
- It has the notorious gauge cluster issue where the speedo or tach will randomly die. It has happened to me around 10 times since owning it and you just tap the dash and it comes back
- The front passenger side blinker needs an oem harness from the junkyard (never got around to it) to have matching lights
- Front driver seat is torn up (hence the covers)
- Driver rear door lock doesn't work, needs adjustment
Car is not a show winner, but a solid drivable car. I will also happily keep the wheels that are on it, provide the stock wheels and take off from the asking price.
ASKING $5000 I am in no rush to sell. Use the email as contact, I am not online much but will reply asap.
Ideally I would like to step into a e36m 4 door as my next car and can add cash to make that happen.
