Alright so me and my buddy just finished putting his 1992 240sx SE back together and started it up for the first time in 4 months after sitting under a tree. We replaced these following things: Fuel Pump , Fuel Filter , Oil, Oil Filter, stripped fuel tank of all rust and sealed it , cleaned all gunk out of the radiator So on and so forth. well upon starting it up i happened to have my hand right on top of the valve cover on the hump that the timing chains sit beneath and i felt a very intense knocking or vibrating feeling , no where else really mostly right where my hand was . We pulled it apart to see if the little guard was there ( previously read about that sometimes causing a problem when chains loose) and everything is still in tact even the chain tensioner and guides are immaculate . Does anyone now what this might be. I say it might be somethings with his lifters and or valves. also saying this i own a Subaru so when we pulled this thing apart i told him he was on his own hahah.

Can it be clicking injectors or valves?

Its the KA24DE twin cam , and im not sure To put in a different sense it literally feels like there is someone Knocking on the opposite side of the valve cover right at the front where the hump is .and then when he revved it up it obviously got a little faster . Some people have had problems with the chain slapping right there from it being to loose but that wouldnt be the case because they dont have the guard that sits above the chain and we do.

Is the idle jumpy?
Yes he had to keep revving it slightly to keep it from dying.

So after putting the engine back together and also finding out we were in sure need of a new distributor cap and rotor and fuel filter. The damned noise that started the whole taking the engine apart was the damn top guard that was making the knocking marbles sound .
But the only problem is we cant accelerate or at least rev it . Any ideas. I will post a video up as soon as i find my camera.
