i was wondering if anyone has tried out the valves from this site:
http://shopctc.site.yahoo.net/ststrava.html

they seem decent and i cant seem to find any links to aftermarket valves :-/ maybe i'm blind??

can anyone link me to some decent valves? thanks

 Did you see the "rice cooker" on their page. Nitrided valves are a good thing but I've never had any experience with that company so I couldn't tell you about them.

hmm nice... i wonder if the valves are pre-cut to the valve seats.

Why do you want new valves anyways? I'd imagine that they are pre-cut....they'd better be. You'd still have to lap them as with putting in a new/freshly machined valve though.

my valves are ticking and i have 70 compression on my 1st cylinder and 40 on my 3rd.

i got my turbo rebuilt due to oil going all in my piping, put it back together, and now i have tons of oil in my piping AGAIN.

i havent leakdown tested it yet, but from what i've read/heard, it is probably bad valves. might as well look into them.

ps--- should i just look into stock valves?

what do you mean by "lap them"

Lapping is when you take some lapping compound and put it on the valve seat, take a lapping stick and spin it back and forth to wear the surfaces to a perfect fit. I would look at the valve seals first. Also if you pull the head off take some measurements of the valve guides. If they are ticking because the valve is not straight when you put new valves in they will just tick too. You'll need a small bore guage and a micrometer. take the first measurement from the top right around the opening. Then the next around the middle of the hole(between the top and bottom). Then for the last measurement flip the head over and take the last measurement from there. If you don't flip it around then when you pull the small bore guage out the readings might be off because the middle should be a smaller diameter than the top or bottom. Also if you're valves are actually what's ticking the seat is bound to be messed up so you'll have to get new valve seats cut and your valves to match. A machine shop should be able to do it for you.

Nissan parts counter! Or go to Courtesy Nissan. The link is in the "Links" section. I'm pretty sure you'd have to call Courtesy though as I don't think it's listed on their site. But they will definately be able to get stock valves.

i have to get new valves and i was reading up on installing them in the FSM.

it seems pretty difficult.... just a lot of little things to be done i guess.

i'm just not sure about all the torque setting on the bolts.

i can usually do all my car stuff myself, but i'm guessing i should send this to a mechanic? if so, what should i do to minimize the labor? i can take off the manifolds and all that, anything else?

oops. Why do I keep forgeting if things are for KA or SR. Courtesy MIGHT be able to get them. But I know if you call a company that makes valves, then with the right measurements, you could get even oversized valves. Ferrea(sp?) is a company that makes valves.

just a thought if you have the money, since your heads gonna be off you could get a headgasket, RAS, valve springs, cams, etc

Here's a conversion we had on FA a little while ago..

For converting a Sr20DET (JDM) engine to US Spec Valve guides a couple things are nessary.

Valve source: Si Valves - www.Sivalves.com
Guide source: Same

Details:
Order intake and exhaust valves for a Sr20DE motor. (Usually .5mm larger)
Order Intake guides ( bronze ) for Sr20DE
Order Exhaust Guides for a Toyota 3E motor.
Order a set of valve keepers.

Extra Details,
Sr20DET OEM Intake valve guide dimensions: OD .400in ID 6mm
Sr20DET OEM Exhaust guide dimensions: OD .430in ID 7mm

Sr20DE USDM Intake valve guide dimensions: OD .400in ID 6mm
Sr20DE USDM Exhaust valve guide dimensions: OD .400in ID 6mm

You must use the Toyota guides because they are .430 OD and 6mm ID. They will allow you to convert the Sr20DET head to use parts redially avliable in the US. Nissan valve seals will not work in this situation because the OD's are differet so you must do one of 2 things:

a: Use Toyota 3E valve seals Toyota Part# (90913-02066)
b: Machine the top of the guide down to .400in OD so that a Nissan Sr20DE valve seal will work with the conversion guides.

End Result:
Sr20DET head that is fully serviceable with US parts.

well i got all 16 stock valves for 45$ shipped, rocker arm stoppers, and maybe a few goodies if i have the money left over.

How much would new valve seats cost do you think? could i just get the ones from the guy i'm geting the valves from? (parting out head)
