Sudden Tree induced metal fatigue is a thing that many people have experienced at some point in their lives. It can be minor, or catastrophic. I think its time to shed a little more light on this disturbing phenomenon.
I would like to share with you the results of a serious bout of STIMF.
So there we were, driving along, when all of a sudden BANG!!!!. It happened so suddenly that the vehicle was nearly turned on it side.
This is what a normal car looks like.

And this is how the same car looks with Sudden Tree Induced Metal Fatigue.

Be aware of your surroundings people. STIMF can occur in moments, and when you least expect it.
Drive safe and have a wonderful day.

It was actually. I drove the car for 6 or so miles in this condition, attempting to finish the stage.

I thought the same thing. Curbs are like little brothers to stumps, which are little brothers to trees.
Pretty cool how it's a rally car.
Thanks

Thanks. I got a lot of hate initially (like that from the asshats above), but in person most people think its badass. It has also proven to be very competitive. Before going out, I was running 2nd in 2wd and 6th overall in a field of 30.
As for the Nico stickers, I have my main build thread there, partly because I prefer not to sift through the inevitable 1 in 3 hater posts here. Sorry, the brim on my hat isn't flat enough for some of you. They have been very supportive of the team, and I return the favor with a bit of advertising.

Play rally video games instead of doing the real thing, or just drive really slow.
Neither is appealing to me. Every crash is a chance to learn.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of power are you making with this car? I don't know much about rally, I would assume you don't want too much power considering how easily you must lose traction

My calibrated butt dyno tells me around 200 whp. This is coroberated by some calculations I have made regarding fuel usage. I really need to get it on the dyno though, my tune is a little rough.
Gravel rally tires provide a suprising amount of grip on loose surfaces, and its not uncommon for a G5 car to be putting down 3 or 4 hundred to 2 wheels. Open class cars are limited to around 300 AWHP.

What, no one is going to call BS? No one wants specs and pictures to back up my claims? Boy, you guys have gone soft lol.
Video of the car being backed off the trailer. Crash video is still rendering.

Not that I can tell. I stitch welded the chassis, reinforced the towers, and tied them into the roll cage. There is a very small wrinkle in the wheel well just under the window, but otherwise its just cosmetic. It did tear the seam in the rocker panel, but a little welding will fix that up in a snap.
hahaha

Me too lol.
Got the car stripped, and part way put together.
