Hey everyone. Recently, I bought a RHD S13 with a Silvia front. Love the car, aside from a few problems. The car has smoked tail lights.
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of smoked tail lights, especially since their JDM Silvia tail lights.
Does anyone have some methods as to unsmoking them? I searched the internet already and it's still a little vague.
It doesn't like paint over the tail light (and if it is, it's extremely fine and has the texture of a factory tail light) and it doesn't seem to be a film cover.
Is it possible that it was done from the inside?
Alternatively, would anyone want to trade for unsmoked Silvia tails? :P

Soak them in brake fluid it will peal the tint off or in case they r sparay tinted it will peel it off and wont mess up the plastic it may take a couple hours of sitting in brake fluid but it works like a charm

Awesome! I think I've heard that before. I guess it's safe, so I'll try it.

how is it smoked?
if its by spray then rubbing alcohol, brake cleaner, or paint stripper will take it off.
if its the vinyl type then a heat gun or hair dryer should heat it up enough for you to peel it off
either way i would take the tail lights out so you do not harm the paint

I honestly can't even tell. It almost feels like it's factory, that's why I was wondering if it was done on the inside. I'll have to do further inspection. But thanks for the suggestions. Once I find out, I'll try that.

post pics of the lights.
i have has to clean of spary tint before. it's a pain in the ass to get off. now the best thing you can hope for is the guy half assed it.
if it vinyl tint wrapped then use a heat gun, or an ammonia bases cleaner.

Just buy a good set of lights. They're cheaper than the materials and time it will cost to restore them correctly.
