the base model engine is a 1.8 litre engine called the qg18de
i was just wondering if this is a modified ca18 because they look almost exactly the same

Nope seems like a new design. It's made to be a non-gas guzzler. A few things different is the fact that it's Aluminum compared to the CA's Iron, and the QG has an "open deck" block design much like Honda's.

I dunno. . I like the new Sentra, it's a nice car, but it doesn't do much for me.  I wasn't truly impressed with the SE-R Spec V..  Stock, it handled very very nice. .  seriously. . it felt like it was modified. . I wouldn't know what to do to improve on that =)

Just wasn't as fun to drive as a 240...  Wasn't slow, but wasn't fast either...  Not a WRX that's for sure (but 6 - 7k less!!)
