I talked to Eddie an engineer with B&M at D1 last Sunday. He said that they made changes to the shifter to eliminate all that noise people have been complaining about.

And the point is? :jerkit:

Are you saying there is now a third iteration of the B&M shifter or are you just notifying us of news that happened almost 2 years ago?

From what he said it sounded like it was a new model. OK, any more questions?

yeh, is there any change previous owners can make to the shifter that brings it up to the newer models level?

That and can we puchase the rubber boots for the top of the shifter...

i also got to check out the B&M piece in person and was very impressed with the quality. i really dont mind the noise that most people claim in the high rpms my car is noisy already.

the noise is caused by the black sleeve that the lower rubber boot is supposed to connect to. While the sleeve DOES *feel* tight, its not. At higher RPMs the sleeve would rattle with the o-rings. Plus, the cap of the shifter would rattle.. same thing, the o-rings are crap. I eventually epoxied the shift ball making it 1 piece, that helped a bit.

Ditch the sleeve. Ditch the ball shifter. From then on, its nothing but quality. I tell you this though, the folks I spoke to at B&M are fucking ignorant and thought the noise was normal. AND, when I told them I resolved the issue they didnt even give a fuck. Their first suggestion was "try wrapping the shift assembly in electrical tape" -- I was thinking to myself, maybe I should wrap my fucking cock in electrical tape. Jesus, the nerve of some people...

Mine rattles like a mofo, but that's ok because it tells me when to shift.

With the packaged material that comes with the B&M Shifter, they provide a phone number. No, it isn't a 1-800 number... So when you call them to ask (complain) about the shifter noise you usually get two options, (1) wait on hold until the next rep is available (I've waited 30 minutes before hanging up), or (2) leave a message. The recorded voice states how important your call is and that they promise to return every call. I've left two messages and not one of them was returned. B&M doesn't get my vote for best customer service.
