what are better seats in your opinion? 1st gen s13 seats (one piece back), 2nd gen s13 seats (2 piece-back and headrest) or s14 seats. I don't have much money and need something better than tore up my tore up seats...let me know what you guys like, pros/cons, etc.

I haven't sat in any S14's.....but I love my 1991 Fastback seats.....they are a once peice back ....I think they are awsome, everybody I have ever given rides to always says they are the best seats! ......Although,most people on Zilvia diss them(definitely a con:()

S14 seats are more comfortable for me, since my job is a 45 minute drive, and school is on the other side of town.

I used to have the S13 seats with separate headrests. Overall they were pretty decent but were seriously lacking lateral support and not very comfortable for long drives. Now I've got S14 seats (from a 95 SE). I've had 'em for about five months and I can honestly say they're better in every way. They look better, are easier to keep clean, are more supportive and comfortable.

The only slight complaint I have is that they sit higher, maybe 1/2". But that could be down to the fact that they're newer and taken from a low-mileage car driven by a skinny girl, so they haven't had my heavy self in 'em long enough to squish the foam down.

Note:I have had major back surgery(spinal fusion...L4->S1 with titanium pedigral{sp} screws) and a neck malformation(CHR-E1),as well as over 14 bone breaks,so I'm sure my opinion is hella different from the average Joan or Joe.

That being said....I friken love them!!!!!!!!!!!! My work takes me to different places(4 to be exact) and they are about 35-50 minutes away, depending on traffic, and how much I weave through that traffic! I find them remarkably comfortable....I wish my recliner was that nice:D

god i hate S13 seats.... especially the 2 piece ones, i havent really sat in the 1 piecers much but the 2 piece are horrible to ride in. no support in any direction and will give you the worse back ache no matter what position if you travel more than an hour. S14's are nice, a whole lot better than S13 , but i like my bride brix the best! its a million times better in every way.... sadly its for sale though, i cant afford it and paid too much for it.($1400) let me know if your interested and with a reasonable offer. they are BRAND NEW and have the 240 bracket already.

i have s13 cloth one piece seats, and dont like them too much. my adjustments have to be perfect or else i'll get a back ache later on. they dont offer much support for spirited driving either. i'll be swapping these out for r32 GTR seats soon though.

when it comes to cheap seats to swap into a car i always recommend 3rd and 4th gen f-body seats there are tons of these cars in the junkyards and the seats have really good lateral support and leg bolstering

If you modify the s13 one piece seats they are much better, stock they are poo. I took out the top spring and bent in the lateral support, much better.

Can you elaborate a little bit more? Did you just unzipper the fabric and bend the bolsters in?

I just put a set of s14 base seats in my car yesterday, so I haven't had a whole lot of time in them. So far, I think they are way better than the s13 one piece that I had before. Maybe my s13 seats had been modified, but I always felt like I was sitting on the bolsters instead of in between them. The s14 seats have much better bolsters on both the upper and lower sections, imho, and are much more comfortable too!

that would be an F-body.....but I would be concerned with height...that is a MAJOR concern with the S13...

EDIT:Apparently,I am the ONLY person in the world who loves his stock "base model" or "one peice" S13 seats....:Ownedd:

well , S13 base model seats are definitely not good for long drives. I have driven with those between San Francisco and LA and can say that they make your thighs sore. As far as S13 SE seats go (two piece) they seem to have much better thigh support and did not make me sore on the Los Angeles to San Francisco run.
I will say though that S14 seats are by far much superior overall though. Its the defacto most economical seat change of choice for S13 owners.

how much for s14 seats nowadays? would you spend 200-250 on a pair in good condition? or should you just spend more on 1 expensive seat <----OPINION AGAIN!!!

screw the passenger seat. they arent driving are they? if your gonna get seats to get chicks, then your car is probably painted orange and green striped and you love neon lights...... I would definately just buy one quality aftermarket seat. they are SOOO comfortable (if you get a good one) and will last forever. Not to mention they hold your ass in when your burning through the slalom. I bought a bride brix, will never find a more comfortable seat... then again im a little guy, and i sat in it before i bought it. thats always a good idea, make sure the glove fits. ive sat in some tenzo (ebay) seats... they were ok but i saw some that were a few months old and they were all floppy and sagging already. reclinability is always a better option for comfort, but if you dont care or just want the seat for autoX purposes, save money with a bucket.... just gotta get their tilt right...

To modify the base s13 seats: Unzip the rear. Take out the top spring if it bothers you (it annoying me) and take a bar or something and stick it through the main frame of the seat (the large round tube) and the bolster supports (little metal bar that comes forward from the main frame) and bensd them inwards until it pleases you. If you bend them in too much you will feel it the bolster support when you corner so be careful. I might try adding some more padding sometime in the future and see how that does.

yeah S14 seats much better than the S13's. Much more comfortable and better support especially when driving hard through the windy bits

1-piece S13 seats are a fucking nightmare.

sitting in them is the equivelent of sitting on fucking skin piercing needles.

(and yes, you can quote me on this one)

oh yeah, s14 seats are acceptable.. and r32 seats are orgasmic.

s14 seats >>>>>>>>>> s13 seats
thats why i made the upgrade. my back used to hurt when i was driving for more than about 30-45 mins, but not anymore.

when did the 2 piece s13 seats start coming out? i have a 91, and its 1 piece.

1-piece S13 seats are the worst seats ever. EVER!

They are murder on your back, and suck for any type of long distance driving: this is one of the main reasons why I always try to get someone else to drive their car instead of using mine.

i would nto be all that worried about the seat thight forthe f body seats floor to roof is about equal without seats i just measure it while i had the seat out of my Trans Am the other day although you would have to fab up some barckets to put them in

I paid $200 for mine, that was front and rear from a totaled 95 SE that was being stripped to the shell.

i like my s13 seats. i wish they had more support on the sides and thighs, but they do hold me quite nice for 14 year old seats that came BUCKET-STYLE STOCK. Everyone always asks "did those come with the car??" I say "yes" and they go "wow awesome."
But it's not about the image, I like how they feel, and although I'm sure there are better ones, you gotta give em props, the stock seats design is almost as old as some kids on this board.

i love my s14 seat, but i have sporadic lower back pains and the seat doesn't give enough support for my taste. But then again i have to sit all the way back and lowerrider style when i have my helmet on :-/

on a side note. I love brides, but they're for tiny people. At D1 I tried out their new Zeta 3L. ooooooh, fits my big ass like a glove. i want i want.

so when i dig up the money for one, my s14 seat will be for sale... in like 3 months ;)
