Hi guys I just recently finished my 5 speed swap on my S14, but now whenever I step on my clutch, a weird hissing noise starts. Anyone know what I did wrong?
Thanks. :)

Not sure why it would be tied to the clutch but maybe a vacuum leak somewhere?

I'm not really sure, but the sound only occurs when I step on my clutch.

@Wowzuhs by weird noise, did you mean like a soft, constant, grinding kind of noise? Every time I step on my clutch it always makes that noise.

Could be the throw out bearing. After market or un-properly greased bearings tend to do that. I had my s13 like that and never had a problem. I have read that it's better to go oem on those though. Hope this helps.
Ps Look into bad pilot bearing symptoms too.

Konichi it's not a grinding kind of noise, it seems to be more of a hissing noise I think. And it only happens when I step on my clutch, other than that the car runs and drives perfectly fine. Not sure if I should be driving on it or not though.

@nismo I just looked up the symptoms for the bad pilot bearing, and it doesn't really seem like the noise that mine is making. They're describing a rattling and scraping kind of noise that seems to be consistently there even if their clutch isn't pressed down. Man I just hope I don't have to take down the whole swap again hahaha.

Oh and now that I've looked back at it again, perhaps it's kind of a "whirring" noise. Anyone know what's going on?

Its probably your throw out bearing...

You're right when the clutch pedal is released and makes noise means the throw out bearing is bad. In your case I might think the pilot bearing might be the issue because that's usually the case when the pedal is depressed and you hear noise. I would get under with a stethoscope to be sure.

its the throw out
the through out bearing has ball bearings in it so when you press the clutch pedal the outer part hits the fins on the pressure plate that is spinning @ 2000+/- rpm and the center of it is conected to the tranny wich is slowing down so you can engage a gear
a respectable company will waranty it but they will send you the same crap and not give anything for time and labor
if it squeels change it if it just sounds like a dry ball bearing spinnig dont worry to much about it
also OEM throw out bearings are quieter and better quality
