Ok so I'm at the junkyard the other day and they have a ka24de s13 sitting there. hoods ripped up already. I look and its lower mileage so i decide to grab the cams in case I want to get some PDM cams or something like that eventually and need a core.
so me and my buddy go to work and are working pretty quickly. we get everything off and the only thing still holding the cams to the car is the timing chain. so me being the dumbass I am figure I'll just straddle the strut towers and yank straight up on the back of the cam and have it pop out from under the chain.
yah nice thinking.
so I get up there and start to yank up on it and it just snaps. right where the sprocket bolts to the end of the cam, about 1/2 inch back it snaps. I'm putting a little force on it and the sudden snap makes me kind of lose my balance and pull straight up into what unfortunately was directly above the end of the cam. that would be my, um, well my boys. you know what I mean. so I kind of hurt myself doing that, lose my balaance and then fall back into the windshield. breaking the windshield I. yeah I learned the hard way how not to pull cams.
:stupid:
maybe this will help somebody if they are yanking cams for any reason. maye it won't. but remember this. just unbolt the cam sprocket. it hurts a lot lot less.
no real reason to post this. just bored and though some people might find it funny.

lol. for future reference, you undo the sprockets first and pop them off the cam (at least one), then undo the bridges in order from outside to inside a little at a time to keep even pressure on the cam.
