View Full Version : Oh My Ohlins!!!

I finnaly got my Ohlins on the car and let me say oh my god. These babys are awesome!!!! Im running a 4 lug LE S14 Kouki with staggered stock tire sizes and Nismo Strut Bars with Poly bushings. The car is completely different. The car is safer at all periods in the wet and in the dry. You just have so much control. They dont make funky noises like coil overs and they are 32 way dampning adjustable.
I just had to jump in and say if any of you ever get the chance I highly reccomend them, you wont go wrong. Not to mention unlike cheap fan boy struts these have a 30K service interval and they can be rebuilt right here in the USA. I dont have to send them back across the pond to get them fixed.
I got exactly what I wanted a street worthy ride with race car qualities. This car is well on its way to becoming a daily driver/ weekend warrior.

Redundant post, my friend. You won't see many people reaching for the stars when sub-1750 coilovers are usually used for street driving. So your semi-elitist post will be more offensive to broke people than a "helpful review"
And fwiw, not all "32 way adjustable" coilovers make "noise", even my blown Megans make little to no sound. Same with my PBM pro's & every Fortune Auto 500 coils that I've owned.

Seriously?? Gtfo, its not like everyone buys a ferrari either, but if someone does im sure they want to do some research before buying a high end performance car. And any review at all would help that person. This review is not intended for broke/cheap customers of megan. Get back to your megan powered rocket and take off to the moon. And dont get your panties in a bunch but coming in here and bashing a decent review is not cool.

Of course, of all of the posts, you'd be THAT guy to point out my post.
Do you get on Zilvia and try to be THAT guy that likes to against the grain & be that white knight for the OP for no good reason?
Read the original post, where in the original post does it give a review? I'll even quote the original post for you:
I finnaly got my Ohlins on the car and let me say oh my god. These babys are awesome!!!! Im running a 4 lug LE S14 Kouki with staggered stock tire sizes and Nismo Strut Bars with Poly bushings. The car is completely different. The car is safer at all periods in the wet and in the dry. You just have so much control.
Don't all reputable sub-$1750 coilovers change the cars feel? Are they not proven to withstand track days & daily driving? I think so. Less body roll, change in dampening, etc. I'm fully aware that Ohlin's are superior than entry level brands but where in his initial post does he give a comparison or more information. With that said: his statement is redundant & stating the obvious. I guess you'd be for the idea of several threads saying "OMG MY COILOVERS CHANGED THE CARS FEEL, THEY'RE SO MUCH BETTER THAN MY LOWERING SPRINGS AND KYB AGX's".
Hell, you can take eGhey suspension arms & replace the shitty bearings that they came with & it will change the cars feel.
They dont make funky noises like coil overs and they are 32 way dampning adjustable.
Did I not respond say:
Redundant post, my friend. You won't see many people reaching for the stars when sub-1750 coilovers are usually used for street driving. So your semi-elitist post will be more offensive to broke people than a "helpful review"

And since you like to hop on my dick, not once did I say that my car is still on Megans. I own several sets of coilovers including the blown Megans. And as a matter of fact, I'm on PBM pro's right now.
Not to mention unlike cheap fan boy struts these have a 30K service interval and they can be rebuilt right here in the USA. I dont have to send them back across the pond to get them fixed.
After the statement before this one that is bolded, is the bar not set to Ohlins, KW, Argosta, Zeil? Thus making other companies like Fortune Auto, DMAX, Stance, PBM the "cheap fan boy" brand?
Does Fortune Auto, Stance, & PBM have replacement parts or offer warranties for the coilovers?
So tell me, where is the review? And what is YOUR point?

What part of "decent" "at least he tried" dont you understand? He failed at the review part but at least he is trying to help someone down the line when they need some input before buying these coils. OP does need to be a bit more specific and may be redeem his crap review but i wonder about buying some parts and i can never dig up a review - even if its a shit one like this. Im not defending the op i just cant stand it when people bash because they are cheap or broke. I have megans in the back not by choice but i cant really say anything positive or negative about them. But if i had some spare coin i would get a decent set of coils and i would hope to god someone has written a review on kw, ohlins, feal, or stance.

I'll never understand how pointing out the truth is considered hating.
Are my words & other's words not being comprehended? Most of the posts say the following about the OP.
This isn't a review. This is a "My shit smells better than your shit" thread.
Okay, we know Ohlin's are pretty nice but where are the information, pictures, other requirements for an ACCEPTABLE thread?
Since you want to be an elitist, how are you going to use Ohlin's for DD duties & describe sub-1750 coilovers as crappy?
Most Zilvian's don't give a shit who has the more expensive shit. If you want to give a review but don't use the product for it's purpose, what makes you credible to make a thread saying what's better than X brand? If you want to provide information, this is NOT the way to do it. And that's all I've said, along with others that stand by what I think.

just sayin NOTHING
thats apples and oranges
another thing i cant seem to understand here, is how people fail to understand that suspension is part of ONE big equation:
- wheel/tire setup
- specs, alignment, air pressure
- condition or type of bushings, or bearings
- air pressure
- chassis stiffening
- corner weight
everyone is so fucking busy looking at brand-x, that they just fail to understand how suspensions work.

No one's flaming him for the choice in coilover.... If you cannot see that this guy started a thread and ONLY said "omg guys I love my new coilovers" then... maybe you should reread his original post because there's no helpful information in it.

Wow guys!!!
So to all the haters...
Well haters gunna hate....
Sorry I upset you with my elitest shit brand awesomeness.
Sorry Im not in high school and I know and can buy quality parts.
They were rebuilt by PSI. Great guys I highly reccomend them.
Ohlins are actually struts that for a very short period were avilable in a limited run in Japan. Thats what I have except mine run with Eibach sport lines. PSI can convert them to a full coilover at about $100 a strut. I plan on doing that with good spring rates down the line.
When I looked I couldn't find anyone that had input on them so I figured I would throw somthing up so that when haters say use the search function now they can atleast have something to go on.
Iv had several setups on the car and since its a daily I simply wanted the best all around comfort/performance struts possible. I couldnt be happier with my purchase. The low speed rebound is great as is the high speed rebound. With the sportlines the car doesnt ride as low as it would with say oh probably all the crap brands everyone is used to hearing about hence why I didnt feel the need to add a comparision since most of the haters took care of that for me.
I payed $650.00 shipped becouse all the megan guys couldnt afford them and I played my cards right.
The car has had four lugs since I bought it as the second owner. I have a full set of Z32 stuff to throw on but I am waiting to get my R33 rims to fit the 5 lugs. I think these look the best on S14 Kouki's
My tire pressure is normally 32 in the rear and 34 up front. Makes a very fun car.
And finnaly yes all the gifs were great, I dont hate, I have confidence. Now have fun ill be back in another 8 months to laugh some more.
Too bad 240's are owned by mostly high school kids on other car forums you dont run into this crap, Ill be heading over there till as I already said I need another laugh.
