Save your damn money and build your car at the hobby shop. I was stationed in 29 Palms from 2003-2006 when there was nothing. The only thing I looked forward to was the hobby shop. It has a full paint booth, and the civilian guys are familiar with sr and rb swaps. There was no smog when I was there! I hope its still the same!

I hated that shit when I was stationed in Oki, luckily i found friends with cars and drove theirs at NAGO or bullring. After 18months I finally got my license. I was in Oki from 04-08.

Just because your car is registered out of state doesn't mean you can skip a smog test. If the base requires it than you have to smog your car. I know I just smoged my brand new 2011 Ford truck. My truck is registered in Texas, I'm located aboard Camp Pendleton! When I was in 29 Palms it was not required because of the location of the base.

29 Palms is hit or miss. I was there 08-09 for Comm school and then I got stationed on Camp Pendleton. I was there for mos school but everyone I hear from that likes it was permanent duty. Personally, it was miserable. I hated it. The car scene sucked, the sand embedded in my paint and there are nothing but desert yetti's for women. If you are in 29 palms its because you are military/dependent/desert yetti/meth head. Everyone else has no business there.

Go out and get away from it on the weekends. Hit up Palm Springs (alot of mil there) but atleast there is ALOT more eye candy... and every once in a while you'll score a nice cutie. Go west on the 10 and hit up the scene in LA, go south a bit more and you'll make friends with Camp Pen jarheads. There are a few meets down in the San Diego area but I liked coming down here for the night life.

Just a word of advice.. there is mil all over SoCal and most of us without high n tytes and moto shirts do a pretty decent job of blending in. Don't be that typical cocky jackass marine.. Learn to blend in because most California people HATE the military. Most people won't even talk to you if you smell of military.
