So I went from a built KA-t setup to a stock Blacktop because I sold my car and bought a 13.5. The SR has about 25k on it and holds compression around 160 on all cylinders. Just wondering here but could anyone tell me the gains I could get from the SR20DET package BC sells on Enjuku? It includes Cams, Valves, Springs, and Retainers. The Race cams are 272's and the streets are 264. It's about 800 smackaroos. Just wondering if anyone would possibly know the estimate of a gain out of this.
Here's the product:

its hard to calculate HP gain without know the type of tune you are going to use.
this doesnt need its own thread, you could of posted this on the small question thread.

Well I have plenty of other questions I'd like to ask and not have to go through the small question thread for every single one.
If you are on a stock setup, and I take that to mean stock turbo with no engine management, You would be better off spending money elsewhere.
But instead of assuming it would help if you said what was your current setup.
Stock is too general of a term.

Do what everyone do, slap a gt2871r , a Z32 maf, injectors and a tune. People do it for a reason : it works, very, very well.

I'm running a completely stock setup. Only 25k on the engine. Stock T25. Just wanna know the biggest bangs for buck here. I know how to work KA, not SR. Thanks for any advice, by the way!

ALL DEPENDS ON TUNING... end of story
You could have the nicest parts in the world and a well tuned stock SR with a proper timing map will destroy you. Something to think about.
I would sell the ECU and buy a used PFC then you can tune the parts to match the motor and your environment.

I know that the right tune makes it count. I'm just wondering what good buys are. I'm pretty sure the stock internals can handle up to 17psi but if I go with a Garret or a gt2871r, how far can I go on these pistons, rings and rods?

your up steve.
On one hand, its nice people still want to mess with these antiques. It keeps us busy.
On the other hand, its been done so many times, we should all just change our sigs to:
2871/740/Z32/ECU/25X+

THese topics have been covered a million times.
No reason to overbuild something if you're only running a t28. Keep it stock, save up and get the fuel system/cams/turbo down the road.

A un opened sr will go up to 380-420. You can push it further but even around those numbers if your tune isn't spot on your going to need to replace the HG.
If you replace the HG with a metal, and add some arp studs 400 all day is achievable.

Shit, fresh stock HG with ARP studs can do more than 400. All about the tune, head doesnt start lifting till closer to 600. After that, time for upgraded/bigger head studs.
Back to the OP, you need to think of it this way, best way to make more power is more air. But with more air, you need more supporting mods to keep the extra air from blowing your car. Most stock supporting mods on a stock SR can usually get you up to about 270-280hp. That goes for turbo, injectors and MAF.

Whats up Ty. These guys are giving you the right advice. Save the cams and head work until you can afford a good standalone and tune as well. That should be your first buy, either a PFC, AEM, etc... whatever you decide. Then in the future you will be set up for the power adders. Otherwise you'll put all this new head gear and end up having to wait to run it until you get a good engine management system anyway, so it will really be like taking a couple steps backward at first. Post up some pics, I wanna see this badboy.
