I have been fighting the question of show or go for a while now, do i want my car to look way bad ass or do i want it to be real fast. Where i live (mn) i dont really need speed, all we have hear are some wanna be civics and crx's and camaros, so i dont have much compation, but what are your guy's veiws on "Show or Go"

neither. Handling , then a mixture of the 2 here n there i guess. Nothing major on go like turbo though or nothing major on looks like a body kit.

I wouldn't go show. I don't like the thought of putting a lot of money into a car just to make it look good. But whatever makes YOU happy is all that matters.

the thing is w/ me is that i think the stock 240sx s14 looks perfect for what i like (just that i don't have a #### front lip spoiler yet). only show stuff i would get is like maybe a nice racing seat, the nismo shift knob i want, the razo pedals i want (i dont' like my current ones), n some stuff like that.

I'm definetly doing both. Although if u had to pic one ..... then if the car looks fast then it should definetly go fast. If not then that is my opinion of rice. But if the car halls ass then put all the spoilers, body kits, stickers, whatever u want on it to a respectable extent and I would give it kewl points.

i say go and drift.......sr of course

as far as show yes i will be doing that. ive made up my mind on restoring my car to its original look and repla=cing any got dang part i can take off with new ones! plus workin at nissan with a nice discount helps
tyo add to the show a silvia front end with a bomex kit they got the best nothin to flashy though. i dont like the overly heavy air dam and holes in the bumpers thing. something subtle and nice

Drifting is overrated. Just drive the fastest way possible. Do the suspension, hone in on your driving skills, tackle the corners, and mountain passes. You'll have more fun that way. Then just modify your car to whatever YOU feel is useful and to what you like. Just drive your car more and if you feel something's missing or needs improvement, by all means, do it. No sense in wasting your money and wondering why the #### you got the part or did the modification to your ride in the first place.

I had to learn that through trial and error. Spend $700 on an exhaust and intake only to find out it did me no good if my driving can't even push the car any further and the extra 5-7 horsepower was unnoticeable, well, to me. I couldn't really feel the car going any faster than it did before. I should have done something more useful like replace the craptastic Eibach Sportlines which handle like shit on tight corners. I also found myself leaning a lot when cornering, I should have invested in a racing seat so I don't have to hold onto my steering wheel, trying to pull myself up for dear life.

Besides, your area has wannabe Hondas right? Why would you wanna add to that "wannabe" catagory with a near-perfectly engineered 240SX tuned to be just "show"? C'mon man, modify it for the driving experience, you know you wanna.

Art is to look at... Car is meant for driving! If you plan on driving... The beauty of the car is its functionality.

Mark - who thinks maybe someday he'll have enough performance parts upgraded to do something for looks... someday.

i rather go speed before looks but if u want both *i just started caring abt llooks*

do this.... Intake, exhuast, tower bars, lower the car, rims *if u have ugly stocks*
then do some engine dress up or painting some interior....
then u will have a nice suspension, the car will look pretty nice..... then u go on from there with either body kit for looks, or more engine mods like pullies, headers, cams, and whatever to make your KA move faster...
or just save up and do a SR swap

alot of go with a little show, i want my car to remain a bit of a sleeper

I learned early on in the street racing game that sleepers rule. A well tuned 240 with nothing but rims and tires to hint at its potential is what I'm shooting for. As far as getting looks I'll take the looks you get when you show up at the local stomping grounds and everybody recognizes you as that guy that smoked all those other guys last week.

sleepers not only are powerful but get you less looks from the cops.

I'm not doing anything on the outside except a spoiler, and maybe a paintjob. I'm putting all of my money into the suspension and the engine, then when i'm done modifying that, i'll do something with the interior of the car. I like the looks of my car as it is.

GO GO GO!!! Show is wussy. I can beat show cars with my 76 Courier for Pete's sake. Wouldn't you rather have something you can feel the g's in? I guess I follow the extreme case, since my truck doesn't look the prettiest with it's dented fender. When it's clean with the chrome rims, it looks halfway decent. For a truck, anyway. Not that I care. It's easier to get out of tickets if you truck doesn't look like it can go that fast.

well I am going with go first show second . The only things I am going to do to my car body wise is a very rare Sealazone rear lip spoiler because it just looks cool bit is subdued and probably a Sealazone front bumper.Oh yeah can't forget the R32 taillights because they are flat and don't stick out like 180sx round ones. basically I am doing a version of the oneline mochi r on.
a very subdued but cool looking RPS13. engine wise I am going KA24DET!!! Yes I am going to turbo my low mileage KA24DE.
On top of that ,I just scored a set of HKS Super Sport springs and am trying to decide which shocks to install. Whiteline swaybars and bushings coming in on the 15 of Jan. VLSD ready to be installed this week. Yes I will have pics of my Black beauty soon.

hey has anyone seen that Gracer (greddy) body kit? it's not too flashy, right? just enough?

click here to see it (http://www.turbomagazine.com/archives/features/feature10_cooker.jsp)

you got my kind of taste if you like that kit too.
the S14a Gracer kit isn't bad... i like that style of kits for the S14s. That type of kit will b the only 'showy' thing on my car when i get one.

when i get my S14... i'm going to spend a year or two driving it in its stock KA24 trim until i can learn as much as possible through AutoX and road circuit. while at the same time doing minor mods...

if you got a fast car (whether it looks fast or IS fast..) it doesn't mean anything unless you can back it up w/ the driving. Anyone can be fast on a straightaway... it takes skills to take a corner and master it.

All go no show

Well, at least nothing beyond the already sexy s13 hatch

Looks are for first impressions, shallow and inconsequential in the long run.

ha ha - when you run on the "gators" taking on ramps at triple the recommended speed and drives in the country wind up being runs down deserted back roads for time girls say they hate it! (but we know it really makes them all tingly inside ).

All show for the ladies? If that's all she wants, you going to be watcher her pass in the seat of some cockjockey's M3!

okay, takumi said the eibach sportlines suck, but then in another thread hipposleek said they were good. are they two different things are just not good enough for takumi's driving style?

70% go, 30% show. I consider handling to be part of go...cause what's going fast in a straight line gonna get you when you have to crawl around a corner as a metro flys by?

and if you really go, chances are, your show won't stay show for too long and why ruin a 2-3-4k paint job? heck, driving your car on the streets, you probably won't have a good chance of keeping your show for too long.

have your car good enough looking that people will want your car, parked....and then fast enough that you can back up the looks.
