shaking like crazy after new tension rods

ok so here is the problem......
the car befor i put the tension rods would shake between 60 and 80 but it was very little and maybe a little bit more when i got off the gas but it was never a big deal. i brought it to a shop months ago for a differnt problem and they said i needed ne tension rods.

so a few days ago go new tension rods matched them up the best i could be for putting them in. after putting them in at like 60 you can feel it start pulling to the right a little and shaking and any thing over 65 the cra shakes so much it might fall apart.any ideas???

in the morning it was driving fine with a very little shake that went away with increased speed then 4 hours later cant even go over 65 with out feeling like the car is going to shake apart

Sounds like it might be something as simple as your wheels being loose, especially if the shaking has gotten progressively worse.

yeah there not check drove like a mile stoped to see if they came loose but nothing


it only starts at like 55 60mp and just gets worst with speed

in the moring it was with stock tension rods and 4 hours later was with the new isis tension rods*

your alignment is most likely off tension rod are what set caster and if your caster is off it can cause a pull to the side with least negative caster.

you didnt adjust them properly? Get an alignment.

going to get it checked tmw,just doent make sense it was fine befor and after cant drive over 60mph get it would pull little more afer doing the tension rods but that shaking is crazy when i say it sakes it SHAKES!!! cant hold the wheel with out your arm going numb lol

idk just doesnt seem like an alignment is the solution but getting one tmw...any thing else i should check

Check your tie rods too

Check over the following:

-Wheel Balance
-Brake Rotors (Make sure they're not warped all crazy)
-Caster is equal on both sides (Note, this does not mean that the rods are the same length - often times, chassis warp over time so each side will be a little bit different)
-Ball Joints (LCA and Tie Rod)
-Wheel Bearing (Though this doesn't seem like a wheel bearing issue)

I'd bet money on a wheel being out of balance or a brake rotor being warped to hell along with the need for a proper alignment.

getting one tmw and checking wheels but don’t think its that cause it wasn’t like it been going on for month and its been getting worst, in the morning when I went to pick up the tension rods drove fine with a little shake but was nothing I was worried about and hours later once the new one where in this happen so wheels couldn’t have got that unbalanced in the matter of hours. as for the the wheel bearing same thing there has been no sign of wear on them and where fine in the morning when I drove it to 240sxmotoring and that same day put them in and now here I am trying to fig out what the hell happen

it was probably the tightness of the new rods multiplied everything else.

grab the wheels at 6 and 12 o'clock and shake them to check the wheel bearings. then 3 and 9 o'clock to check tie rods and control arms.

If it shakes like crazy it means something is badly loose. Probably your new tension rod adjuster. Or you did not bolt the wheel correctly, if anything goes between wheel and rotor contact surface, it will shake horribly too.

I had the same problem it turned out to be my wheel bearing was completely loose check yours before your whole wheel comes out!!

yea if it does it at different speeds than id start with wheel balance.. more than likely the worn out tension rods were absorbing some of the vibrations.

it doesnt do it at different speeds it always happens with speeds over 65 had an alignment helped some but seepds near 70 still have the crazy shake

Or his alignment was off before he replaced the tension rods and thought getting a new pair and matching it to the previous fucked up alignment was a smart idea. which it OBVIOUSLY sounds like.

I just replaced everything on my rear subframe and "matched it" as best I could and the car was undrivable past 40, it felt like I was feinting the whole time. I can post up how fucked the alignment numbers were too after getting it adjusted.

I think om1kron is right. The caster (and probably everything else) was already fubar'd. Replacing the tension rods and setting them to the same position as the oem one will leave the same issue, except it will be more noticeable because theres no big rubber bushing to absorb any of the shock. For as many people that have said "your alignment is the problem," you would think OP would get it aligned?

control arms are good, going to see if new wheel fix it if not looking into tie rods but when i check them there is no play in the wheel there all good

Honestly, you should just stop posting here. This is one of those things where we can give you all the advise, but we're giving it to ya blindly without physically being there to take a look. Why not taking it to the alignment shop and have them do the inspection?
