:newbie:
This is my first post. I've been searching the forums for info for a while now and haven't really needed to post for any reason (finding everything I needed with the search function).

But I've been looking for a rebuildable S14 240sx for a project for a little while now. I haven't been in any hurry, since I already have 2 other cars.

A friend of a co-worker is selling an Royal Blue base 95 MTX S14 here in North Texas which was in a front-end collision. From what they're telling me, the guy rear-ended a pickup and the hitch tore up the front end and pushed the motor back. The frame seems ok but it looks like I'd need a radiator support, motor, tranny, crossmember, mounts, radiator, hood, headlights, and possibly fenders and differential. I could solve most of it by getting a front clip and aftermarket front end body parts or S15 conversion, I guess.

I'm told the interior and the rest of the body is in great shape. He is asking $1k for it because he has aftermarket rims and sound system in it. I don't need the rims or sound system, so I'm planning to offer much less if he's willing to keep them (maybe $400-500).

I know this isn't much info, but do you guys believe it's a good deal? Is it worth it to take this car and rebuild it little by little? I like the idea of building a car the way I want from the ground up (and I like the color), but I'm a little apprehensive about biting off more than I can chew.

Thanks for your help!

BTW:

My main concern is with the rear end. If the motor/tranny were pushed back, I'm thinking the differential is no good anymore. I haven't seen the car yet (an hour and a half away), but I don't know much about the rear setup of a 240. Could the driveshaft have bent, or would it just bend the differential mounts and push the differential back?

I haven't seen another 240's differential to compare it to to see if anything is out of place, so anyone know if the mounting would hold up?

if the motor got pushed back i would assume the crossmember got owned as well? i cant see the frame liking any of that stuff too much up front
think you may need to go see what kind of shape its in yourself

Crossmember is bent DOWN 2 inches at center

Radiator support bent back

Most likely, by default, the front framework is bent... but can be bent back by any shop which is equipped to do so?

I know nothing about fixing busted cars, so please excuse the ignorance... :)
