This is my first post. I've been searching the forums for info for a while now and haven't really needed to post for any reason (finding everything I needed with the search function).
But I've been looking for a rebuildable S14 240sx for a project for a little while now. I haven't been in any hurry, since I already have 2 other cars.
A friend of a co-worker is selling an Royal Blue base 95 MTX S14 here in North Texas which was in a front-end collision. From what they're telling me, the guy rear-ended a pickup and the hitch tore up the front end and pushed the motor back. The frame seems ok but it looks like I'd need a radiator support, motor, tranny, crossmember, mounts, radiator, hood, headlights, and possibly fenders and differential. I could solve most of it by getting a front clip and aftermarket front end body parts or S15 conversion, I guess.
I'm told the interior and the rest of the body is in great shape. He is asking $1k for it because he has aftermarket rims and sound system in it. I don't need the rims or sound system, so I'm planning to offer much less if he's willing to keep them (maybe $400-500).
I know this isn't much info, but do you guys believe it's a good deal? Is it worth it to take this car and rebuild it little by little? I like the idea of building a car the way I want from the ground up (and I like the color), but I'm a little apprehensive about biting off more than I can chew.
Thanks for your help!
