View Full Version : A/C help
Ok so I have a 89 hatch single cam that I converted from r12 to 134. I installed all the ac parts from another 240 flushed all the lines new drier and seals. Had it working great for about a day the. The exspansion valve messed up so I just put in another evap wit valve had it working good for about 3 days when the high pressure relief valve blew. Ordered new higher pressure 134 valve and the got system filled back up and now my ac comp turns when I de accelerate. Iv played wit the amount of freon adding a lil more taking some out, doesn't seem to affect it swapped of the high pressure switch and still no change. The ac seems to be affected by rpm when ever I push the clutch in after driving a few mins the comp shuts off and won't comp back on for at least a min. I don't know Wat to check but the pressures seem to be fine. Hope somebody can point me in the right direction.

have you checked the hi/lo pressure switch?
I swapped it with another one and still same thing ac shuts off when I de accelerate. Ac seems to work fine while moving but as spoons as the rpm drops the ac shuts off for a lil bit then comes back on. Have no idea where to go next except maybe throw anothe comp on it.
If anybody comes across this I figured out the problem it was the temp switch on the back of the comp shutting it off. Bypasse it and ac works great know.

Ah beat me to it. I was going to suggest that :D
Sometimes going from r12 to 134 you fight component issues like that...luckily they are semi-easily solved.
Remember SR owners, if you want AC on your SR20 swap, send me a PM and I can hook you up with a set of brackets to adapt it all for you :D

Can someone post a pic of this switch and how you bypass it? I'm putting a/c back in my car this saturday and converting to 134.. I leave for Texas in 2 weeks so it needs to work haha.

Anybody got any tips to get the ac colder? Still got the clutch fan and electric fan but it warms up at stops not getting enough flow thru condenser.
