yeah, that's a big gaping hole through which almost ALL of the sound deadening material blew out of.

so.... THAT's why it's been so loud lately  had to make a sheet metal patch for it and have it welded over to make a new body for the lower half of the muffler. We tried using a 20" Vibrant muffler in place of the original Greddy muffler, but it was just too damn big to fit in and would've hung an inch lower (bright idea, eh?). Apparently no one makes a 16x4x9" muffler that has a 3" inlet and 2x 2.25" outlets :(

oh yeah, for new sound deadening material, I used like 8 boxes of (soap-less) Brillo pads :P So far it's quieter than it ever was.

Well, I had it patched over with some sheet metal. The only thing is, whatever the muffler body is made of likes to pop when welded to.... gotta weld the sheet completely around the muffler to actually do any good (since the endtanks are more easily welded to).
