Hey, just happened to notice on www.slickdeals.net a pretty cool test drive event going to major cities between March and June 2004. Admission is free, pay $40 to stomp the gas and push the vehicles to its limits in a coned track in a Benz, Volvo or Mazda!! Must be 21+ to drive :(

Mazda (http://mazdarevitup.com/home/default.asp)
Volvo (http://www.volvodriveevents.com/defaultReg.asp?)
Mercedes (http://c-spotdriveparty.com/registration.asp)

The Mazda Rev It Up looks the best!
Mazda Rev It Up™ is the first of its kind -- the world's biggest, best run, most affordable and carefully organized performance driving school and national competition -- anywhere. We provide the cars and gear - you show up and have the time of your life. Whether you're already the world's best autocross driver or you just want to come out and test your skills, try and find an event that's this much fun for even ten times the price of Mazda Rev It Up™. How's $40 sound? Most performance driving schools cost thousands. Mazda Rev It Up™ will give you change for a fifty! (Not to mention free admission for non-competitive drivers.) Did we mention that all paid competitive drivers get to compete in a spirited new MAZDA3?Or that each city winner is invited to a gala National Finals in scenic Monterey at legendary Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca? Or that we give away a new MAZDA3 compact to the winner!

So check out their sites, sign up for an invitation, and get out there! I'll be going to the Mercedes event in Kansas City on May 22-23, 2004 and the Mazda Rev It Up event in St. Louis April 24-25, 2004 for sure! :D

I signed up for the Mercedes and the Mazda events. Quite a bit of track time for a killer price. I'm really looking forward to the Mazda Rev It Up event. Professional training, fun, and the chance to win a trip to cali for nationals. I wish I was that good, lol good luck everyon1

ive been to all of those except for the mazda revitup :-/

the bmw event is the best one ive ever tried so far, cuz not only do you get to autox in the x3 (3-4 laps with instructor driving, 3 practice laps you driving, and 2 laps of competition...this is by far the most track time ive ever gotten in one of these test driving events), but you also get to choose from 4 bmw models to take out on the streets unsupervised for about 15 min. you get to choose from x3, x5, 330i coupe, and z4 (2.5 or 3.0 models). the z4 and the 330i coupe are amazing!! lets just say im so lucky there werent any cops around when i was driving :p

the cspot benz event was pretty cool too, but you only get to drive c classes :-/ however, event-wise MB knows what theyre doing. they hook u up with great food (gourmet-type appetizers, etc.) and entertainment.

the volvo event was kinda whack, you get one practice run, and one actual run in a very tight course. total track time: about 30sec  the only good thing about the volvo is that they give out a pretty good prize for the fastest driver, i think it was an R/C car.

so benz throws the better events, but if you really want track time and maybe pick up a few pointers on car physics, etc, BMW kicks a$$

just my 0.02...

The mazda event is right in my backyard and don't have any autox on this date. So I think I am going to sign up. Thanks for the info SilviaSativa.
