What are good tires today? I used to think that Yokohama AVS ES100's were good for the price, but it seems that some people are complaining about the weak sidewalls. What else is nice? Not too expensive though... no Potenza S03s heh.

ES100's are some of the best for that preice range/money. Falken Azenis Sport is nice too, but don't last too long for me. The ST115 which I have on my car as we speak seems to be a good tire in the rain (socal, barely ever rains but recently just been pissing) but just doesn't feel like a performance tire to me. I don't like it.

Interesting, I was also looking at getting some new tires and the Yokohama AVS ES100's were my first choice for the $, if anyone else has much to say about them I would be interested.

I think theres a lot of tire reviews on here- check out the search button. As well, www.tirerack.com has a section for cusomer reviews you can browse through after it generates you a list of tires from your criteria.
I have Dunlop SP Sport A2 tires on my car and theyre fantastic- cost $84 CAD per tire and grip very very well. They arent known to be the longest lastting tire but theyre awesome on dry pavement and in the rain

Things change, tires change, frequently. Old ones are being changed and new ones are coming out. And I haven't seen any reveiws lately so...

I still say ES100 is the way to go. Just stretch it an no more sidewall flex! I'm getting another set in a month or so. Mine lasted 12k miles with one auto-x and one track drift event. Great tires. Good grip when warmed up, and I love the progressive breakaway. I just can't mess up on these things.
I'm sure Azenis sports are great also.
i just switched from Azenis to Es100 in the front and KumhoEcsta 712 in the rear. I really like the es100. the sidewalls are softer but that's ok for street. for autocross the azenis will be a at least one second faster but they have overheating problems. I'd say es100 are cool. ppl use them for drifting cause they wear evenly even when they are blistering hot. as long as you keep your tire pressure cool. other tires loose chunks of tread.Yoko seems to be really popular right now.

I'm running 195/55/15 on my stock steelies and tear drops and they work great. They are a little narrower and lower profile then stock so they are very responsive. The breakaway is nice and they wear nicely at drift events. They also grip nicely. It's been raining lately and they seem to do well in the wet as well.
