Hey guys, been looking for a sunroof delete and have decided to just make my own out of glass. Going to basically mold to the same size as the oem glass and create a lip underneath it so it can be apoxied/ riveted/ glued/ taped/ nailed/ whatever to the underside of the roof skin. Anybody done this????? If not I will gladly do so and take pics for people, might make a few

I know its not a s13 but this might help you out to make a mold for a true flush sun roof delete

While the guy in that link did a great job, I'm going to go out on a limb and say the OP does not want to spend several hundred dollars and countless hours on materials and equipment to do it like that guy in the link did... if he even has the talent to do so!?! What that guy did and what I do... there is no room for error. Everything has to be perfect for a perfect outcome.

I look forward to pics though.

Kognition FTW. Too bad they don't make them anymore.

The kognition one was held in by (fuckin) magnets (how do they work?).

Thought id share some pics of Kognitions exceptional craftsmanship!

You only use magnets to keep it in place while the adhesive cures.

Is the kognition piece pre molded (round) or flat when you get it? any more pics? I am thinking of making my own... Ihave carbon fiber and engineer friends... shouldn't be a brain-buster. anyone else want one?

sure if thats what you want i just didn't want water coming in the roof and pop riveted it to the roof. i race the car and don't want to rely on adhesive.:wackit:

i wish someone would make me a glass/lexan piece that fit like the kognition piece... i want to replace my popup (since i barely open it) but i don't want something fiting badly...

The kognition piece is curved to match the surface of the roof.

Sunroof delete panels look weird and cheap. One can automatically tell they are homemade and do not belong. If you really want to not have a sunroof so desperately that you are willing to drive around with a silly-looking slab of plastic on top of your car, then just trade chassis with someone without a sunroof. I am not sure what is so cool about the Kognition one either, because it looks like someone cut out a rectangle out of cardboard and glued it to a car's roof.

On the other hand, if someone actually took the stock sunroof, and just removed the glass and replaced it with carbon fiber or lexan, so the sunroof would still look and open like stock, that could be kind of cool.

^^ exactly my thoughts. I love my sunroof but would like it more if it was a "functional" cf sunroof instead of glass

dude, have you ever held the sunroof assembly in your hands?

that shit is mega heavy.

not just the glass, but all the bracketry stuff too...

^^ first company or person to make lightweight sunroof brackets and lightweight glass replacement could make some bank!!

race car.
Gotta love how "racecar" is an acceptable excuse for something looking like shit.... people these days. :nono:

^ I it looks like shit then I personally wouldn't do it. I'm not a big fan of crazy body kits or the ricer lights and wings. I think a piece of plastic/ whatever ghetto rigged onto a roof could be acceptable for a full track car but never would look clean. I think the idea of having a legit sunroof replacement would look super clean

agreed, i also think a carbon/lexan one that pops up with a release and is not secured in place would be dope.
