I purchased a CF hood and obviously I was expectin to need to use hoodpins of some sort. Online I saw "hood locks" instead of hood pins

It looks like it'd work pretty well, im wondering if they are easy to pick first. Second, wondering if they're as sturdy as say some sparco hood pins. I talked to this guy at project nissan and he said he'd heard of 3 incidents whre the hood flew up, but he doesn't know if the idiot forgot to lock the hood possibly?
Lastly, wondering if i should go with some sparco hood pins, and also see if theres some other way to latch the hood down with a lock so that I can use the sparco pins which seem to be tuffer.
oh either if i get the hood pins/hood locks, u think grey or black would be better for my cf hood to hide it and match.

I'd love to get one like that but I wouldn't trust it for hood pin duty....not me anyway!
EDIT:I know that in the muscle car world, the hood locks like that are shunned b/c they have no value as a hood pin whatsoever.....and also,if he knows of like 3 or so incidents of it messed up.....well,I wouldn't trust them...
It looks like an "ACE" style lock, wich are VERY hard to pick....but I didn't look that close,so don't quote me.

Im thinking maybe just get hoodpins...some sparcos, then somehow get a lock on my hood...some mickey mouse/ghetto fabalous way... =/
Wish them locks would hold.....any more imput would be greatly appreciated
I think they'd work fine -- a possible reason why peoples' hoods fly up is because with those locks, you can't tell if they're locked or unlocked. With hoodpins (traditional) it's obvious if the hood's not secured; you see the two pins kinda dangling with the rings popped out. With this, it looks the same no matter what.
I think they should be good enough for pretty much whatever application you can think of. Just don't forget to lock them!!

These are just like the Mr. Gasket Hood lock set. These work perfectly fine with my CF hood. The only thing is that you should make sure you drill in the correct spot/angle for the mounting points. You'll know when it's secure because the mechanism will spin about a quarter turn to lock. Personally I like these more than the hood pins because they sit flush and look a little more discreet. The hood locks only come in silver so I had to paint mine black by spending some time, sanding/spraying. The keys for the hood locks are pretty generic. It almost looks like a solex lock key, but has a few more grooves in it. As for it's durability, my car is a daily driver and it's been to the track where 80-90 mph straights are common and no problems with the hood locks.

I've got the Mr. Gasket hood lock kit right not. I'm going powdercoat them black like my car before I instal them. Seems to be very good quality, even the guy that sold them to me were using it on his car (very clean looking).

If I ever get a carbon hood I would put hood pins or hood locks on it, just to be safe.

You should be safe as long as you don't forget to close your hood. I've had mine since October of last year and I doubt I'll ever need to install a set of hood pins/locks. I tend to hit the speed limiter everytime I drive on the freeway too.

If the edges on your carbon fiber hood are wrapped, I would say most likely you wouldn't need hood pins, but I would recommend it if you see your hood vibrate at highway levels. I have cut hood edges and it's not as smooth. The air tends to get under the hood and causes a lift. If you don't want to take any chances, just get them for peace of mind.
