with unmodded knuckles, you can drift fine without powersteering and its not too bad.......with modded knuckles, you need power steering, end of story....

I've got modded knuckles, too. The only time I noticed any increased steering effort was parking/parallel parking.

I know a few rx7 guys who drift with no power steering, and do it well. It's just a personal preference with or w/o power steering.

It's worth noting that there are Manual Steering Racks for FC's.
A car with the PS removed != a car with Manual Steering.

you're a moron
a car with PS removed (totally, including draining the rack) = manual steering
2 of my 3 cars are manual steering, drained rack. i dont even cap the holes, leave them open. been driving like this for over a decade.

Honestly in my opinion its not as hard to steer with no p/s as people are making it seem. Ive not has ps on my s13 for awhile... and not had that hard of a time ... especially when going over 15 mph..... simple..im not buff at all and i have no struggle or muscle weakness after driving.

daily driving without ps is one thing (not that bad, although parking & low speed turning sucks)
60 mph lock to lock transitions while drifting is another thing entirely. the wheel gets pretty violent and you gotta be on your game.
i don't always drift. but when i do....i prefer power steering

My apologies, you are correct.
I was trying to imply that most people don't do a complete PS delete, they just loop the lines and shit (or better yet, I've seen people with leaky lines just take the belt off). A full PS delete is the same as a manual rack, but I haven't seen too many people go through the proper de-powering procedures.
I guess I shouldn't always assume that I'm talking to the standard Zilvia idiot.

That's stupid. It's like saying don't get coilovers because people used to slide on worse suspension. If you can get it, and it makes things easier on you then why not? Why make shit harder than it has to be?

Why is there not a manual steering rack for the S-chassis yet?
There are so many other silly niche parts no one buys.

Because you can just open a power rack and depower it to be just like a manual rack all on your own.

Mine is already de-powered so, but I would still very much enjoy a plug-and-play manual rack with some fancy quick ratio and extra long travel.

the ratio is the difference between a manual rack and power rack, as they require less effort to turn.
once you open the ports & drain the fluid -the internal seals add very little resistance.
im running a hicas rack in manual mode, we'll see how thats going to work out. should be fine.

Just so everyone know draining the fluid is not the same thing as a mauel rack cars with a true manual rack I'd geared different designed to be easier to turn and not beed the assist...yes still harder but a oe car with ps rack drained and a oe car with a manual rack will not feel the same

I've never had a problem drifting without PS in my S12 or in my RX8, and I'm not a big guy either ~115lbs.
Maybe I'll fix my PS and give it a try.

I think Mike is probably the last person on Zilvia to be trying to get his post count up..
On topic, drifting without PS isnt that bad.

It's an unneccesary PITA for no reason. Nobody's arguing whether or not it's doable. It's like the difference between buying a chick a bunch of drinks, or taking her on a sober date where she talks to you for a sh1tton of hours. Either will get you the boo-tay, but which is the path of least resistance?

i had mine depowered for a while and it is not too bad on gravel or if you are on dirt or something. i have tried to initiate a drift with my ebrake and it was almost impossible and im a pretty strong guy. i moved to power steering and i can promise you, it is worth EVERY PENNY you will spend for the parts you need.

Yeah. I guess that's a reasonable assumption to make from an obvious analogy.
