Hey everyone, I have up for sale my 1989 Toyota Cressida. I bought this car off Craigslist about a month or so ago. Previous owner was a great guy who really loved the car. My intentions were to replace the motor (it had a rod knock) and daily the car. I was able to replace the motor, but unfortunately the motor I bought was pretty bad. A few days after replacing the motor, the headgasket went bad. I flushed out the remainder of my cooling system and added some headgasket sealer. Ever since then, I have not had an overheating problem. And this was over a month ago. Anyway, my latest problem was the motor pulled a code 25 which is "Air/Fuel ratio is lean". I took it to a shop and they told me that cylinders 1 and 2 had no compression. I have a compression tester at home and I'm going to compression test the motor myself to see if what they told me was true, or if they were just trying to squeeze me out of my money.
I've decided to sell the car anyway and buy a car my friend is trying to get rid of. I realized this car is more of a project car and not a daily. I've already got a 240sx that I need to give some TLC, and I really don't want to spend money on this car.
This is a perfect candidate for a 1/2JZ or 1UZ swap.
No accidents and clean title!
The good:
-From the west coast. The only rust I see is in the rear quarter panel. Fixable. Nothing CRAZY.
-Pearl white paint. Very clean except under passenger side view mirror
-Speakers are wonderful for its age
-All power accesories work.
-All lights work
-No funky wiring or electrical problems
-Bone stock
The bad:
-Apparently the motor is running on four out of six cylinders
-Car keeps dying. I tested the alternator and it was bad. Bought another one from Autozone and was fine, but the car started dying again. I suspect the alternator once again since it is Duralast.
-Steering wheel is chewed up
-No sun visors
-Very small rust on rear quarter panel
-Passenger seat belt motor doesn't work
Thats all I can think of. Other than that, you can expect a few things from a 23 year old car. (struts, wear and tear on interior, etc).
The car still drives. Drives like crap, but it still drives. I carried a spare battery from my 240sx because the car would die. lol
Its priced to sell. I have an offer of $600, but if anyone can beat that today it is yours!
