so i bought a motor that had tomei 270's in it, previous owner had it built at autodream in alberta.. for some stupid reason, they left the tomei solid lifters out and he gave them to me in a box. I have verified they are tomei 270's. he also didnt tell me the motor has stock valve springs and retainers..what a winner. anyways,
the motor ticks ALOT from the head.
my question is, can I just remove the rockers and cams, and take the OEM lifters out and replace them with the tomei solid ones? or do they need to be reshimmed with tomei shims while doing this?

You'd have to measure the clearance and make sure the right shim goes to the right solid lifter.

ok thanks!
just to clarify, the solid lifters are a different length than the OEM lifters then? the motor has been re-shimmed for the correct valve heights already.

im no expert, but i would think the lifters should be the same length. the length of travel for the rocker arm would be the same, so i would assume the length between open and closed would be the same. maybe some of the more seasoned zilvia gurus can help on this one....lol..im still kind of a newb.

How to Build a 9000-rpm Head for your SR20DET (http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/how-to-build-a-9000-rpm-sr20det-head.html)
Read that and there's a guide on how to measure the shims so you have the proper cam/rocker arm clearance. What you're trying to do is put the right shim/guide in the correct place...itll be tedious as shit since you're using the actual shims and not test shims.
