i know this is a timeless question that you hear but i need a good answer and pretty quick too honestly
im thinking of getting in on the M2 wheels group buy and have a few quick questions
im gonna go for 17x7.5+15 in the front
and 17x8.5+25 in the rear
whats the widest tire i will be able to fit without rolling fenders and negative camber and etc...
im ot gonna be drifting or anything these will go on a everyday driver , i just want some meats to stick well .
and please noone say you should go 8.5 form and 9.5 rear because i dont really need that wide of a wheel setup...
thanks to anyone that can help me...
Brian
I honestly don't know why you (or anyone) would bother with 17*7.5 up front or anywhere; that's such a ridiculously pathetic size! While your rears are doing the driving, don't forget that you have to steer and stop, too -- which means you need some rubber up front as well.
Get 17*8.5 all 'round, and run some 215/45/17 all round. You will be happy with the *minor* stretch (it won't look funny) -- it will help with steering response, control and general road feel. If your car is lowered at all, you probably have enough camber to clear 17+8.5 +25 all around without rolling fenders. Similarly, coilover clearance (if you have them) should be fine. If you want wider (225/40 or 45) then you may need a marginally higher offset in front to clear the fender, although you should still be clear. (i'm running off my own estimates and experience, so this isn't exact)
With 8.5s all around, you can rotate tires (more out of a set) and will not have as much trouble selling the wheels later; if you get a staggered setup it's generally not as preferred since only MR/RR or high-powered (depending on chassis/layout, of course... on 240s I wouldn't stagger unless I had over 250whp) cars need extra meat out back.
From what I gather it sounds like you should be well under this (what, 210 to the wheels? 220?) - not needing the extra width means to me that you're not planning any more significant upgrades, hence won't need wider wheels out back.
Alternatively, you could just go different offsets - 8.5 all round but +25 rear and +30 front - you could still rotate if you had to, but mainly this would keep your resale options open as well as your front end grip as well, while not making your fronts look more "stuck out" than the rears.
JMHO.

what about the 17x7.5 +15 with a 215/45/17, i think that is what i might go with..
Reading my last post, I think I came off a little bit harsh towards 7.5" wide wheels.. haha I'm not THAT anal about it, really... not to the extent that doriftoslut or dousan are... but I'm a firm believer in keeping options open -- which you can better do with a marginally wider wheel. You can run anything from 205 to 245 tires on 8.5" wide 17... whereas on a 7.5" wide, you can only run between 205 and 225, beyond which the bulge will noticably affect response.
If you're really keen on saving the $20 or whatever it is that getting a 7.5" wide wheel will give you, the +15 option sounds good; a 215/45/17 is properly matched, although you shouldn't rule out a 215/40/17 -- slightly shorter sidewall, giving less bulge and better response without affecting anything other than front ride height. Don't get me wrong though, 215/45 will definitely fit up front.
Oh yeah... and I'm not Brian (Yeswepromise); I'm adriel. :) Have fun!

im mainly worried about clearence, plus i really dont want a strech, if i were to get a 8.5 i would want to run 225/40/17 at least. But i would be worried about clearence or the fenders

To bad there isn't an 8" option. 225 to me is about perfect for an 8" wheel. 7.5 is a little buldged, 8.5 is a little stretched. I think if you were to run 8.5 in the front, you might encounter some rubbing issues when (if) you start lowering your car without some camber/rolled fenders.
