View Full Version : Tein coilover spring question
Quick question :) Would anyone know how I can get 6/5 springs for my TEIN HE's. I want a set of the springs for my coilovers for the street and I want to keep the 8/6 ones for when I go to the track. Do I have to order them directly from TEIN or can any tein distributor obtain them. Also do I have to replace the nut above the pillow mounts all the time because I think the maunal says you can't reuse it. I think it only says you have to replace the rear, right?
Should I just get the flex's?

The HE's are really too stiff for you? Have you tried putting them on full soft?
I'm 99.9% pretty sure you can order your own spring rates for them, but its gonna be a hassle having to change them all the time.
I haven't tried them on full soft. Basically I just want to know if I can get them directly from tein or if I have to go through thier distributors. I've been playing with settings for a few weeks. Right now I have it at 9 in the front 7 in the rear. Feels like the car is less bouncy now that the springs have broken in a bit, but its a bit too stiff. They aren't too stiff on the street, but I commute on the freeways of los angeles alot so it gets kind of annoying. I saw one of dousan's posts and he mentioned the springs were only 50 bucks each so I figured it I would be better off purchasing the springs and having 2 sets than selling the HE's on the forums and buying the flex and later regretting not having a higher spring rate available too me. I'm kind of having mixed feelings about them. So thats why I think having 2 sets of springs would solve it :) I also don't have subframe spacers yet so Im guessing it might contribute to the bouncy feeling, I don't know...

Tein HE's are 65mm inner diameter. Typical US coilovers use 2.5 inch inner diameter springs which is 63.5mm. So you can just use Eibach ERS springs or a number of various springs. Lengths are 175mm for front and 250mm for the back on the HE's so look for something close to that in length.
I'm probably going to just give tein a call tommrrow.
I emailed them and they sent this:
