Extra plate on my 6 speed transmission

I just got my s15 6 speed transmission with my s15 sr and I'll be using the 6 speed for a bit. I was looking around at pictures and thread on how everything fits in my s13 but I'm a little confused by this extra plate on my shifter that I haven't seen in other pictures. I'm not sure where it's supposed to bolt to but it has 4 bolt holes and it's got a little neck on the bottom (i should have taken a picture of it) that snugly fits it in the neck on the transmission. It all fits together well, i just can't figure out where it's supposed to bolt to.
