installing gauges. What is the ACC wire?

Ok, I know this is a noob question... as evidence for this I've searched and there is nothing..

I have everything wired up but I do not know what the ACC wire is. Never mind which one it is then... Can anyone help me out?

It's a wire that goes hot when you turn the key to the accessory/run position. You could also hook it up to an ignition wire.

Crap. Well that is where I have the "to ignition switch 12v(+)" hooked to.. :S Where should that one go then?

I have this:

Red "to ignition switch 12v(+)" - ignition (0v when off. 11-14v when on.)
Black "ground" - Grounded.
White "connect to ACC" - I dunno yet... haha.

Depending where you put your gauges, you can pull the ACC also known as accessory wire off the radio harness. Like Braodfield mentioned ACC is a wire that gets power when the key is in the on position. Are you sure your RED wire is not meant to be hooked up to constant 12V?

FYI if you want to know which wires are what off the radio harness assuming your running a aftermarket radio, Yellow is the 12V Constant and Red is your ACC. If you have a factory radio still.

S13
Constant 12V: Red/Black
Switched 12V: Blue

S14
Constant 12V: Pink
Switched 12V: Blue

If not you can use a Multimeter and use the probes to check which wire is what on your ignition harness above your steering column.

To be honest, I'm not sure of that at all... And they are just cheap prosport gauges.

Q: I lost my instructions how do I wire the performance Series gauge?
A: Black –Ground
Red - 12v ign. power-meaning power when the ignition is on.
White- 12v ign. power
Orange-Headlight switch.
Green - Sender
The above/below wiring will result in white during the day and color (amber or Green) at night.

Q: How Do I wire my Premium Series(Peak/Warning) Gauges?
A: Red -Constant 12v power
Black-Ground
White-12v ignition power
Orange-headlight switch
Green –Sender

So according to Prosport if you have the lower "Performance" line gauges red and white wire both go to ignition wire. Orange is basically the illumination wire (switches the color when you turn your headlights on). You do not need to hook up the orange wire if you do no want the other color to come on. Some people like only having the white on at all times.

Thanks Eek. So if I'm understanding it correctly, both the red and white wire get attached to the same wire (0v when off, 12v when on).

According to their FAQ that is correct. Only reason why I can see there is a difference between the Performance line and the Premium line is the Peak/Warning function which would need the 12V constant for memory purposes. So in your case if your using the Performance line, both red and white go to the ignition wire.

I have the same exact gauge on my s13, red is constant 12v to retain peak memory, white is ignition which powers up the gauge and does the full sweep test, black is ground and on mine I had 2 other wires for illumination depending which color I wanted, mine black out when turned off so u need illumination during day to see gauge :bigok:
