View Full Version : Well I did it.  I ordered my SR motor but...

Well I did it.  I just ordered my S14 SR20DET motor.  I had a question That I did not think about.  Where the #### do I get an oil filter.  Will the SR20DE oil filters work?  If so what years?  or will all years work?  What type of oil do you run?  I am a Mobil 1 guy and what what I was thinking.  Will that be ok?  OK ok these maybe some dumb questions but I couldn't sleep last night cause I was thinking about this all night.  Please someone help.

The oil filter should be from a B13 Sentra SE-R equipped with an SR20DE (91-94)

That'll answer any further questions about parts being found on domestic Nissan vehicles to suit the SR20DET.

Use the oil filter from a B13 Sentra SE-R with 2 liter SR20DE.
And might as well tell you about the spark plugs, use Sentra 2.0 liter SR20DE spark plugs.

And I would stick with Mobil.

When I had my 300zx tt I was told by the &quot;best Z mechanic there is&quot;, (greg dupree), that it is not a good idea to run mobil 1 with turbo engines, because they are higher temp oils, and it will wear out your engine.

Anyways, think about getting a vented hood also, and be sure to cool down the turbo after a hard run. I udes to do it after every run with a turbo timer set at one minute.

actually since you have the s14 motor det get the b14sr20de oilfilter the b13's are a lil diff

What?!!!
This goes totally against all reasons why you SHOULD use a synthetic if you have a turbo. &nbsp;Synthetic oil has a much higher temperature resistance to coking. &nbsp;Coked oil (heating it until it turns to tar) is death to a turbo.

Are you sure you heard him right? &nbsp;If he really believes that, he isn't much of a mechanic.

I am pretty sure thats what he told me. All the people on twinturbo.net swear by him. Call him up. 818-424-6396. It's Greg Dupree.

I looked it up and I heard alot of good things about mobil 1, so I might have misunderstood, though I am fairly certain.

go to tt.net and search my name. I posted the story there. Basically I spun and hit a wall. The turbo had just kicked in in 2nd gear and I hit a wet spot. It sucked.

Yeah... I love Zs. But I think its best to start out with a lower powered rwd car to learn with, unless you have GREAT self control. So Im cool with my 240 for now.

Its too bad too. She was a beauty. I bought her from the president of Motorex (Hiro). It was at stage 2, with 17 * 9 front 17*10 back, I believe. Oh well. Take care of urs man. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Said it was pushing 250fwhp when I spoke with them.

Too bad I didn't save the pictures of the white r33 gt-r that was in the wharehouse too.
