sometimes when i hit the gas on my car it feels like a slug the rpms clime but the car isn't picking up faster. however if i let go of the accelerator pedal and push it back again it works fine. this only happens sometimes. could it be a bad differential please let me know what u guys think it is?

What engine? 5sp or auto? How many mis. ....etc. etc....and its 'climb not 'clime' ....:)....does the engine sound bad different? Or idle ruff or any other symptoms?

It could be your clutch if you have a 5 spd.

you got me...unless....no....I know my MAF is going bad,and now when I acceleration it just climbs to 3k and has NO POWER until then and is very sluggish...and thats the only prob(trust me) but I also can't idle right....so I don't think thats what you have.....free bump BTW

ok mtbr u gotta be more clear. a clutch that is just starting going wont slip like mad at first. you can nurse it and it will catch. that means its just starting to lose its grip. w/o more info, i really think it must be your clutch.

i cant imagine how you could possibly press on the gas pedal and have your rpm meter climb w/o your engine revving. that doesn't even make sense. the rpm gauge is not tied into the gas pedal. ok - take the clutch out of the picture. if you are parked somehwere with the car running in neutral and step on the pedal. the engine should rev and the rpms should go up. you should be able to rev it all the way to redline without any problems. does this happen?

to check your clutch, get in your car and pull the handbrake up partially up. put the car in gear and try to drive foward slowly. yes, this is bad for your handbrake. watch your rpms as you drive foward. watch for any rpm spiking. a clutch that still grips should not spike with clutch out even with the handbrake partially up. this method works to diagnose a clutch that is just starting to go by adding extra load (the handbrake) onto the clutch beyond whats normal. if the clutch is gripping fine, try starting *a little* more aggressively or giving it more gas while cruising foward. don't push it though. this is obviously bad for the car. yah and don't try this on the street.

try try both & come back with results.

thanks poopy i appreciate your feedback i will try it out also i have noticed that my clutch pedal has dropped a little could that be related to my problem? what i mean is that i don't have to travel as much distance to get the clutch pedal to the floor.

yes that might be a symptom of other problems... the whole system is hydraulic. just fluid in lines and cylinders. pedal -> pushes fluid -> pushes clutch out. if you have a leak, air bubbles, anything like that you would lose pressure in your system and pushing in the clutch might not fully disengage the clutch. i'm not sure if that would cause something quite like what you are experiencing though.

i wish a more knowledeble person would chime in.

It may also be a bad injector(s). Does the care shake at all or sound different when you try to speed up. i dunno, just a possibility,

ok i don't think its my clutch because i did the test also the problem seems to have gone away it could have been my exhuast pipes because i know there in pretty bad condition
