Anyone know how can I tell if my fan clutch is bad?I noticed a weird sound recently and it appears to be my fan.It never did this before so I think that's the cause. If it is bad can it be repaired or do I have to replace it.Any help would be appreciated. 89 240sxse :bash:

What sort of "weird" sound are you hearing? The more descriptive you can be, the more help you'll get.

^exactly. Either that or if you don't describe it enough, somebody might think its something else, and you will end up replacing and fixing 10 things before you find it ....

if you notice your temp go up, then replace the fan clutch. You should have a electric fan on the radiator inside the shrouding. See if that looks like its still in one piece. It only comes on when teh A/C is on. Mine was bad so I thru it out wiht no problems. But later upgraded to an electric fan and pulled out the clutch fan.
If you got $100 to spend, nice upgrade is the electric fan.

spin the fan with your finger if it freewells and spins around you need to replace if it requires some force to move then it also need to be replaced. If when you spin it with your finger it only travels...i'd say about a 1/4 turn or a couple inches then its not your fan clutch.

hah. clutch fan is never good. take it off, that little AC fan is enough so that your car wont ever overheat, unless you have other cooling issues.
