Ok guys, big problem. I have an 89 with a KA24E. It wouldn't start the other day. So we fidgetted with it the other day, and today it started running, then with no warning, shut off on the way to work. It doesn't make any stuttering or anything else before it shuts off, it just goes off. The headlights and everything stay on so i know it's not the battery.

The coil was checked and is good
wires are good
CAS is good
Battery i s brand new
just had an oil change and filter change because it had gas in the oil from my excessive attempts at starting it.
also it has new plugs that were just put in

It started fine today and then just died.... any suggestions?

Maybe something with the MAF or TPS ?

check to make sure your warm up solenoid is shutting off

The first time drove it after i "fixed" it, it was nighttime, so what I couldn't see was the "uncle buck-like" plume of black smoke coming out the back, which is not apparent at idle. I thought the burning smell was some excess oil burning off my manifold, but the car is getting oil in the chamber. Most likely valve stem seals, we think. Oh well the heads comin off, and if it's a bigger problem, the ka is coming out ;)...know what that means :)

Thanks for the help though guys.
