i believe the ss also has a resonator...i have the rs and it has a deep exhaust tone and it's also pretty loud

What dnomyar said -- if you look closely, the SS has a resonator while the RS doesn't. Seems like the RS would be louder/less street-friendly. Both look super nice, though!

ootranceformeroo has the SS model i beleive...
when i saw it in person, it sounded really nice on his KA....he took out his silencer at a drift event, and i didnt even notice it was off...
but the URAS canister does look a little smaller than others, i.e. HKS, GReddy, Apex'i
he'll be chiming in soon

I have the Uras SS on my KA, I really like it. I've had it for about a month and a half. The guys at Works Yamaguchi put it on for me. Its a little on the loud side, but very liveable b/c it is a deeper loud, not buzzy at all. But it really isnt loud much at all under 3500 rpms. Everybody that has seen and heard it seems to like it so far. I couldnt be happier with my purchase. The main reason I purchased this exhaust is because I will eventually be turboed (hopefully in a year) and I find it to be a decent exhaust for the KA, not too loud and some top end gain (probably just like any other catback). Comes with silencer, ONLY downside was the wait for it (mine took about 3 months to get here).

So it gets my recommendation.

I definately want to get one of the Uras exhausts. I've heard that the exhaust, being 80mm piping, might make the engine backfire and not have enough pressure. If you got the silencer with it, it would help with the backpressure problem, right?

YOU DONT WANT BACKPRESSURE! slap whoever has been feeding you that lie. backpressure is a sideeffect of a good system because a good exhaust system maintains exhaust velocity. go search FA for D240kat's very good write up on the technical explination cause.. well I dont feel like typing it.

and while your there search for Mav1180 or whatever his SN is post about the new 5zigen pro racer exhaust. 80mm on a NA KA motor.

Uras RS that is... :) yeah its loud even with the silencer but with it I think it sounds like fart driving around on the streets at around..1-2k rpm. When you get up there though it sounds nice...VERY quiet on the freeway. Can hardly hear it unless you start to gas more...

Dont get the Uras exhaust, it sucks and its loud... :fawkd: But yeah the tip is smaller than most. 100mm(4in.) I think. I posted pics of it somewhere on FA. Just search for uras rs exhaust or check it out here....

actually, the tip is 80mm, which is typical of turbo exhausts. BUT what is small looking is the part behind the tip, what someone above called the "canister".

Its loud because its a turbo exhaust, NOT meant for NA. NA exhausts are usually 50 to 60 mm. I got my exhaust knowing that it will be loud. All turbo exhausts are loud because they are HUGE (have you heard a greddy DD?). After you go turbo the noise will decrease noticeably. You *should* get an NA exhaust unless you know you're going turbo later.

Well my "canister" tip is 4in(100mm) and the piping is 3in(80mm). Yeah I knew it was for a turbo. My comment above was a joke. I only said it was loud and sucks and that you shouldnt get it so that we could have some...."specialty" with the exhaust... :p But yeah... I knew I would be going turbo later so I picked this one...otherwise I would have picked a non-turbo exhaust. Just to clear up the confusion if there was any.. :squintd:

I know you don't want backpressure, it'll make the engine backfire then, right? For some reason I thought that with having 80mm piping and not being turbo, it would make the engine backfire. When my resonator had a whole in it, the engine was backfiring and I thought that it would be about the same concept? Maybe I'm just stupid.

um no. go find the thread I talked about on FA. backfire has nothing to dowith backpressure.

I don't mean to be an ass or anything.....but could you mind explaining how

Steeles

I mean in the sense that they both happen but one dosent cause the other. backfire is unburned gas vapor exploding in your exhaust. backpressure is a result of the scaveging effect of your exhaust
