It's a 91' fastback 87k miles, 5 speed, SE cloth.. SuperHicas, ABS..
The guy is your typical I know nothing about the car except it looks sporty kinda guy. Doesn't know what LSD is or even think that a 91' model car would have that.. (lol..sorry.. I just have to laugh)
With the car having ABS, and Super Hicas.. is it likely it has LSD???
BTW he's asking $3950 What do you guys think??

Sounds like a find.
As for price, be realistic about it. Sounds decent, fairly low miles for a 91. I'd wait till you've seen it. If its really clean and well cared for then giving him a good price is his well deserved reward. The price is a little higher than the norm, but for such a rare car, its seems worth it. If it really has problems, start dropping the price based on what you find.
I paid a lot for my 93, but it was showroom condition. Some fluids needed changing but that was about it. To know that the car was so well cared for and that I could trust the seller made the extra cost worth it to me.

I'd say it's a good deal as of now. Once you look it over start haggling the price down dependent on what you find. Personally I would never pay the asking price for a car. The few hundred bucks you save on the asking price can go into aftermarket parts.

ok, so I ran the Vin# and its perfect there. I told the guy I would put some money on it so he wouldn't sell it and he said it wasn't necessary, and he would call if anyone else showed interest b/w now and when I can get to see it. I wouldn't ever pay asking price either.
I figure even if it's perfect I'll still offer about 3,700.
I hope this is it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

try to talk him down a little but even if he won't budge its a good deal That is what a base model 5speed with that kinda mileage would go for here in Los Angeles . I say buy it . by the way congrats on a killer find.

i'd say start at 3000 also unless the guy is really cool which he seems, in that case start at 3500 so as not to insult the guy. Check it out first ofcourse make sure all the lil' things are in good shape as well as the obvious things. Oh and try real hard not to get too excited thank God my brother was with me when i got my 240 after looking for months I was ready to pay whatever the guy wanted hehe.

hehe, I was the same way actually. The guy knew that I was going to buy it whether he gave me a better price or not, but he lowered it anyway <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Yeah - I don't think that price is outrageous but I would assume you would pay less. A $200 drop is assumed - I like to casually, in a soft voice as though I were talking to myself, point out every little thing I see. That way, I can open at 20% or so off asking price and work from there.
About being excited - if he knows you are driving 3.5 hrs, good luck trying to convince him you are indifferent! Try to find a couple things about the car you really like and use them as your reason. Example, "Yeah, I've been looking really hard for a car w/ LSD and yours was one of the few I've seen w/ it. I could bolt one on for about $400, but don't really want to go through the hassle. Besides, this looked to be in good condition w/ everything I wanted." The hint is, "I could find a similar car for $2500 and add $400 to make it 'just like this,' but don't want to go through the trouble... b/c of that - $3300 is fair, right?"
Good luck and keep us posted!

tell em "3.00$ IS MY FINAL OFFER!!!!"
just kiddin, yea these guys in here seem to be doin good with helpin you out, when you talk to him when you get there, have a straight face for the first 5 mins, if he says something worth cracking a smile for, then do it... make it look like you think he is an alright guy, but dont let it take you over, and make you soft... no matter how much someone says they know nothing, they wouldnt of bought the car if that was the case...
everyone is out to get you when buying a car... remember that...

personally, i wouldnt wanna pay more than 3k for that. but the miles are low, and if its in good condition, go for it. that really is a great find, i wish you the best of luck!

If I were selling that car, I'd definately want more than $3k for it. Then again, if I were selling it, it would presumably be in perfect condition too. Hmm.
Anyway, the point is, that's a fair price. Asking for cheaper is always worth a shot when buying used, but for a sweet enough car, pressing too hard just isn't worth losing the deal.
Needless to say, look at the car first. But, I felt it DID needed to be said that if you've found the right car with all the right stuff you wanted, man buy it now and worry about the cost later ... on an uncrowded interstate somewhere.

i agree with icetekguy. Car sales are lying cheating b*stards. They are trained to show you exactly whats required to make the sale. Yet every one comes over as your best friend. Its always afterwards that you see through the lies unfortunately. He knows everything about that car i bet ya.
Remember one thing ,when a car salesman opens his gob he`s lying. You must judge it yourself. Take his word for nothing
gggggggrrrr i hate car salesman , your bestmate till you`ve signed and come back with a problem. And then they have you by the balls.
Let someone who knows check it out for you. There`s no other way.

That's a pretty nice find, you'll be hard pressed to find a 91 with such low miles. However use the fact that its an 11 year old car to your advantage. You should be able to get him down to at least $3500. Casually let him know that you have been looking at a similar car back home, but its not a five speed (or something). Just don't let him think you were sold on the car before you even see it.
Definately have a Nissan Dealership check it out for you.
I drove over 2 hours to look, and eventually buy my car.
I got on nissan's site and found a dealership close by, then had them do a full inspection of the car. (Only cost about $35). That way, you know the car is in good mechanical condition.
