it all started after the ncda event last saturday. my power steering cut off a couple times before the end of the day. on the way home i noticed a whining sound coming from the pump. whining sound speeds up with engine rev. anyway i got a dohc ka pump and put the sr pulley and bracket on. still have the whining noise and now it makes that horrible ford like sound when you turn the wheel. i filled it up with dex 3 atf while turning the wheel both ways so i know its full. so just wanted to get everyones opinion. two different pumps with same whining noise, and yes i know it is coming from p/s because when i take off p/s belt no longer any noise. any chance the rack is messed up? any ideas?

Did you tighten the belt? Most of the time it's because it's low on fluid. Keep filling it until it kinda the fluid level stays high, then suck the rest out until you have the right amount. If you need a new rack, I got one.

yeh i tightened the belt after replacing the pump. not too loose and not too tight. fluid level in the middle of full hot. driven around a bunch of times and level is staying the same. so im not sure if maybe its just another bad pump or my rack is bad. nothing leaks, most lines are pretty much new, so its got me in a stump. it would suck to stick a new rack in and have same prob, but two different pumps with same noise just bothers me..couldnt be much else but those two..
