Damnit. I dont want to do this. I have been putting this motor together for about 2 years, its started as just a 5.3l rebuild, but now is far from it. Have basically a cast block LS1 I was planning on boosting and putting in my SC, but Im moving for work at the end of the year, and I have to get some more practical transportation for the amount of travel Ill have to do for work.
Anyway, here is a summary of the build -
LM7 bored to LS1 spec, fitted with brand new Sealed Power Pistons and Chrome Moly SP rings. Rods were all spec'd and cleaned along with crank. Reassembly was done with Clevite bearings, Victor Gaskets and MLS head gaskets, and I upgraded the Camshaft to a Comp LSr model, adding Comp lifters, moly pushrods, and a Trunion kit to go with the Patriot Gold Valve Springs on 241 LS1 heads. An LS1 intake and fuel rail is also mounted with all new OEM hardware. Refreshed the heads with new valve stem seals, a lapping of the valves, also media blasted everything minty fresh... I mean everything. Every bolt and nut I reassembled was either replaced with a new OEM GM bolt (timing cover/heads/intake/oil pan) and the rest were media blasted fresh. I know... I know, I just love building things fresh. I dunno why.
The block was baked, and I replaced the camshaft bearings with Clevite Race series. Didnt need a line hone, machinist checked everything out. The LM7 had about 100k miles and was out of a 2006 Chevy 1500 and was in running condition when it was pulled. I still have the truck intake/oil pan/wp/oil pump/etc, but just didnt need of it. Oil pan is LS2, intake and heads are LS1, water pump is LS1 along with crank pulley and belt tensioner. All are brand new. TR55 NGK plugs as well. Have a Melling high volume oil pump as well as a GTO front sump oil pan that will fit for most swaps. Trans is out of 2004 GTO, has about 50k miles on it. Part that will still be needed will be an ECU, Alternator, and alternator bracket. Im looking for them currently, if I get my hands on them, Ill include them as well. Also, if anyone would like to assemble the motor themselves, Ill include head gaskets and head bolts for you. Peace of mind is everything, I know I would be much more comfortable assembling something myself. Im a little OCD on cleanness though.. lol
